      I've been captivated by pleated skirts for a long time. Sometimes I think my attraction stems from having attended public school throughout my life without wearing a uniform. The pleated skirt seemed unfamiliar, which is why it caught my attention right away. It represented more than just adherence to rules and rigidity; it was an item I could wear to transform into a different version of myself. Pleated skirts have been a significant element of my personal style for as long as I can remember. It's amusing because, despite symbolizing order and tradition, I often style them in a manner that defies that very idea. I tend to embrace a grunge aesthetic, which likely makes wearing pleated skirts such an enjoyable experience. Given their association with private school uniforms, they can easily be styled in subversive ways. Wearing a pleated skirt in a non-traditional manner adds to the fun.

      For me, a pleated skirt has become like a second skin. While some people reach for their go-to pair of well-worn jeans, I consistently choose a pleated skirt, of which I have far too many. They come in various lengths, so I have both longer and shorter ones that I wear according to the season. There are excellent options available in vibrant colors, classic neutrals, and bold patterns, such as plaids. As long as the designers and brands I love continue to produce pleated skirts, I will keep purchasing them, as investing in a pleated skirt always brings me joy. You can never have too many.
