Whether you're a fashion enthusiast or not, it's clear that cap-toe shoes are a classic, largely due to Chanel's iconic versions like ballet flats and slingbacks. They have seamlessly blended trendiness with timeless appeal, winning the favor of people across various age groups and tastes. These shoes are universally appealing, and a new iteration has been introduced to ensure their stylish presence for years ahead. This new version maintains the essence of traditional cap-toes but features a contemporary detail: a shrunken, dipped-toe design that both Chanel and Loro Piana are embracing in anticipation of 2026. The dipped-toe shoe trend first gained notoriety at Matthieu Blazy's debut show for Chanel during the S/S 26 runway season, which honored the House’s archives while incorporating Blazy's distinctive off-kilter approach, showcased in the dipped-toe pumps worn by models on the runway. The excitement surrounding this silhouette surged after Awar Odhiang's uplifting finale, and the interest hasn't waned in the past few months.

These dipped-toe shoes provided a glove-like fit, crafted from soft leather and featuring stiletto heels. They were available in various two-tone combinations (like white with black, beige with black, and white with beige) and were paired with pencil skirts, tweed trousers, and more. The same styling was evident at the Métiers d’Art show held earlier this month in a deserted New York City Subway station. Numerous Chanel ambassadors, including Ayo Edebiri and Emily Ratajkowski, attended wearing pieces from Blazy's initial collection. Edebiri styled a white pair with a black toe alongside a black skirt suit, while Ratajkowski opted for a coordinated black pant-and-jacket ensemble with oxblood accessories and beige-and-black dipped-toe shoes. Other attendees such as Kristen Stewart and Alek Wek also sported this Chanel shoe trend.

However, Chanel is not the only brand exploring the shrunken cap-toe aesthetic. Loro Piana’s S/S 26 collection also showcased this style, albeit in distinctive variations. Next year’s highlight will be the flat, slipper-like mules available in luxurious satin-like tones such as navy blue and chocolate brown. They strike a balance between casual and upscale, making them ideal for both relaxed home wear and sophisticated evenings out. Another standout from the collection features pumps with elegant tortoiseshell block heels, a soft brown hue, and a striking white dipped-toe detail.

As with every successful fashion season, there's one downside: the coveted runway pieces are not yet available for purchase. However, since I'm not the most patient person, I took it upon myself to search for shoes that are currently available and align with this trend. My search revealed many enticing options, with Loro Piana's signature Rebecca flats standing out as the best choice. While the brand also offers minimalist, solid-color variations, the dipped-toe shoes are equally desirable and stylish, featuring unique materials like tweed and suede. Brands such as Saint Laurent, Christian Louboutin, and Manolo Blahnik also present their interpretations of the trend. Explore the selections below.
