Honestly, I can't think of anything more mundane than a pair of black trousers. That doesn't mean we shouldn't wear them, however, as they are a crucial wardrobe staple. If you're looking for something a bit fresher and more engaging, the trousers that Gracie Abrams recently sported may catch your eye. While attending a dinner celebrating Chanel's new Coco Crush jewelry collection in West Hollywood this week, Abrams, who has been named the brand's new fine-jewelry ambassador, arrived in a Chanel S/S 26 ensemble that was both stylish and sophisticated. It featured a colorless black jacket with the bottom buttons undone and the must-have pants for every fashionable person this year: gray pleated trousers. Although they may not be revolutionary, they pair well with a wider range of colors than black trousers and provide a similarly elevated look while being a touch cooler and more unexpected. To complete her outfit, Abrams wore a brown leather belt and pointed cap-toe heels. I have no criticism—the off-the-runway outfit was flawless, largely due to the chic, anti-trend pleated gray trousers.
