The first stage of the film festival "Movement Vertically" is opening in the Stavropol Territory in honor of the 90th anniversary of Stanislav Govorukhin.

      From March 23 to 29, 2026, the first stage of the film festival "Movement Vertically" will take place in the resort city of Zheleznovodsk, Stavropol Krai, established in memory of the outstanding Russian director and public figure Stanislav Govorukhin — an honorary citizen of Zheleznovodsk.

      The project's events will bring together talented filmmakers, artists, and public figures, with the main goal of promoting Russian cinema, developing creative initiatives, and honoring the legacy of the great master. The primary target audience of the festival includes youth, high school students, students of creative universities, and professional cinema and theater figures interested in enhancing their creative competencies in the field of artistic creativity, as well as the residents of Zheleznovodsk.

      The film festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of Stavropol Krai, and the Administration of the resort city of Zheleznovodsk. The events are organized by LLC "KinoFocus," the Center for Film Festivals and International Programs, the "Vertical" Film Studio, and the "Mosfilm" Film Concern.

      The program of the film festival "Movement Vertically":

      The main venue for the festival's events will be the City Palace of Culture named after S. Puskevalis (Zheleznovodsk, Chaikovskogo St. 1), where film screenings, creative meetings, and master classes aimed at developing professional skills and unlocking the creative potential of participants will take place.

      March 23, 2026

      11:00 (conference hall) there will be a press approach with the participation of the festival organizers;

      13:00 (model library) a master class by film director Olga Belyaeva on the topic "How an Image is Born on Screen" for participants of theater studios and young actors;

      13:00 (conference hall) a master class on the topic "How a Script Sounds" will be conducted by composer Artem Vasilyev, the author of music for Stanislav Govorukhin's films and more than 60 films;

      15:30 (film concert hall) a creative meeting "Stanislav Govorukhin — a Man of an Era" will take place with film director Olga Belyaeva and composer Artem Vasilyev, after which at 17:00 there will be a screening of the film "The End of a Beautiful Era" (dir. S. Govorukhin, 2015).

      On the same day, March 23, at 12:00 in the "Pushkin Gallery" (Zheleznovodsk, Kurortny Park St. 16), a photo exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Stanislav Govorukhin will open.

      From March 23 to 29, 2026, in educational institutions of Stavropol Krai, within the framework of the "Conversation about Important Things" section, class hours dedicated to the memory of Stanislav Govorukhin, who did much for the city of Zheleznovodsk and actively participated in the cultural life of the Caucasian Mineral Waters region, will be held. During this period, screenings of his films made at the "Vertical" Film Studio and "Mosfilm," as well as the director's favorite films, will take place.

      The film festival "Movement Vertically," dedicated to the memory of the outstanding director and public figure Stanislav Govorukhin, has been held in Russian regions since 2023. In addition to Stavropol Krai, in 2026 it will take place in the Moscow, Kaluga, and Vologda regions. The film festival has become part of the main plan of events of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the master's birth and is implemented in accordance with the decree of the President of Russia V.V. Putin No. 65 "On the Celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Birth of S.S. Govorukhin."

      The three-year experience of holding the film festival "Movement Vertically" in the republics of Khakassia, Mari El, as well as in the Tula, Moscow, Pskov, and Kaliningrad regions has shown significant public interest and a high level of demand. During this time, more than 70 educational events and over 200 film screenings have taken place, attended by more than 30,000 viewers. The festival's educational events — master classes, discussions, film screenings, round tables, and creative meetings — are aimed at fostering a sense of patriotism and pride for their country among the youth. They demonstrate that supporting young people's initiatives in studying national traditions and the history of their native region contributes to the realization of innovative creative projects and the embodiment of new ideas.
