High-heeled pumps remain stylish, but Kendall's French-girl alternative style pairs better with dark-wash denim.
When a footwear trend can genuinely be labeled as French girl–inspired, endorsed by Kendall Jenner, and attributed to The Row, it essentially secures its credibility in the fashion world—and I wouldn't strictly categorize this style as a "trend." Low-vamp flats have long been popular in Paris, with one of the city's most cherished shoe brands, Repetto, excelling in this design. (Interesting tidbit: The French label's low-vamp flats, known as Cendrillon ballerinas, were created at the behest of Bridget Bardot and, as noted on their website, are "slightly cut out, [offering a] shape [that] will elegantly and femininely showcase your foot.") However, with high-vamp pumps gaining significant attention lately, the spotlight is shifting toward their counterpart, which swaps out additional sleek leather for toe exposure. It's certainly a distinct look, but both styles are worth trying out, especially if dark-wash jeans are part of your spring outfits; I highly suggest choosing the lower-vamp option. As Jenner recently showcased, it's an ideal combination of footwear and denim. Ahead of Coachella, the model and founder of 818 was seen at Sushi Park in Los Angeles, donning a relaxed evening ensemble that included a navy Yankees baseball cap, a chartreuse top, a cropped leather blazer, and Khaite dark-wash jeans. She completed the outfit with two items from The Row: her favorite Eva flats and a black Henri bag, both of which are now sold out. Normally, evening attire features heels, even if only a modest kitten heel, but Jenner successfully made flats look just as sophisticated. The secret? Opting for a low-vamp flat and pairing it with dark-wash jeans.

A touch of toe cleavage can enhance spring outfits, effortlessly elevating dark-wash denim looks. All you need is a single pair of comfortable flats, ideally in black, to match with some sleek indigo jeans. And don't worry if you don't already have one or both; there are plenty of options available to fill that wardrobe void. Keep scrolling to recreate Jenner's look.
