      I must confess, I was quite eager to pull out my broderie anglaise blouses and lightweight linen two-pieces at the first hint of spring, but this week's rain and cold breeze reminded me that I may have jumped the gun. Now, I'm in a bit of a bind. The weather in 2026 has been rather unpredictable so far, with sunny mornings swiftly turning wintry. In the past month, dressing has shifted from being a form of self-expression to a tactical strategy, prompting me to reorganize my wardrobe. I’ve moved my shirred dresses and cropped capris to the back in favor of items better suited for transitional outfits. Naturally, I headed to COS.

      When it comes to high-street brands that give an expensive look, COS is, in my opinion, the best of the best. Renowned for its minimalist color palettes, flawless tailoring, and elevated basics, it offers a taste of luxury at a more accessible price. Its physical and online stores feature a wide range of transitional pieces, including editor-favorite jeans, elegantly structured blouses, airy cotton dresses, and barrel-leg linen-blend trousers.

      After trying on what felt like half the store, I managed to narrow down my selections into three streamlined looks that I believe highlight the best COS has to offer this spring.

       My Review: I was on the lookout for pieces that could stand the test of this unpredictable season; they needed to secure a spot in my spring capsule. I started with a reliable combination: a blouse and jeans. While my beloved linen blouses were too thin for the current cool weather, COS’s Ruched Cotton Blouse strikes the perfect balance; it's substantial enough for cooler days in London yet maintains that lovely warm-weather vibe. Sticking to my usual size (UK 8), the shirred waistband gives a flattering silhouette, while the structured balloon sleeves lengthen my arms. I matched it with the Arch jeans, and the outfit was practically finished. It provides everything we seek in transitional weather: an easy silhouette, leg-covering length, and the potential to layer under a spring jacket. Made from lightweight cotton, this flowing design exudes the same romantic quality as many of my favorite spring dresses but comes with a softly sculpted look due to the gently gathered seams and pleats. Staying true to size, the dress reached my ankles (a consideration if you're shorter), and there was ample room to size down for a more fitted look. With a tiered maxi skirt and hidden pockets, it’s perfect for numerous occasions, from a Sunday meal to city explorations. It was the standout piece, which is why I bought it immediately.

       Wanting to elevate the outfit, I searched for a shoe to showcase the dress beautifully. A ballet flat, while undeniably stylish, felt too understated, while trainers dragged the vibe into casual territory. When I slipped on the Leather Kitten-Heel Mules, it was a match made in heaven. A minimalist pair of heels that suit Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s style, the sleek triangular heel transformed the outfit completely. Complementing the dress's carefree spirit, the mules added a gritty, cool factor that was far more contemporary than any other choice.
