It's Time for Beauty Spring Cleaning—What Our Editors Are Keeping and What They're Letting Go of This Season

I just completed the biggest beauty declutter… ever. This decision stemmed partly from a Marie Kondo-inspired closet clean-out I conducted last weekend and partly from a much-needed move towards mental clarity, as my room, overflowing with products, threatened to either overwhelm me or trigger a makeup-related meltdown. Although I no longer required the full-coverage foundations and powders that were my go-to during a busy events season (why do all the galas and award shows take place in winter?), I couldn't bear to part with them just because the weather was becoming warmer. Instead, I stored my winter beauty essentials alongside my fur coats and gloves, saying goodbye until next winter and creating space for new products.
It seems I wasn’t the only one spring cleaning in recent weeks—my fellow editors have also been refreshing their beauty collections for lighter, simpler, and more sun-ready products. Below is a rundown of the beauty items we bid farewell to this winter and the replacements we've adopted for the sunny days ahead.

**Ditching: Winter Perfumes | Keeping: Spring Scents**
**Henry Rose**
London 1983 Eau de Parfum
As a beauty editor with a passion for fragrances, I’ve always felt the need to choose a new signature scent for each season. I declared my affection for D’Orsay’s Holy Berry for the winter of 2025-26, but I’ve put it aside for next December in favor of a new spring favorite: Henry Rose’s London 1983 Eau de Parfum. This musky floral envelops the wearer in a light mist of fig, black pepper, water lily, and jasmine, gradually unveiling hints of blonde woods and vetiver. The outcome is an effortlessly chic spring fragrance that combines notes of skin musk, delicate wildflowers, and sweet fruits in a stylish package. Because let’s be honest... Florals for spring? They need an unexpected twist to truly stand out.
**Ditching: Rich Moisturizers | Keeping: Cooling Water Creams**
**Aestura**
Atobarrier365 Cooling Hydro Soothing Water Cream
I am a moisturizer fanatic. Despite having sensitive skin, I tend to accumulate almost every formula that I receive. I adored Dr. Diamond’s Hydro Bioactive Hydrolipid Barrier Moisturizer this winter (and I’ll likely continue using it before bed), but my daytime routine now calls for something cooler. I've replaced it with Aestura’s AtoBarrier365 Hydro Soothing Cream: a super lightweight, refreshing water cream that alleviates redness and cools your skin by 9°F. Plus, it's an excellent primer for makeup.
**Ditching: Matte Foundation | Keeping: Natural-Finish Foundation**
**Chanel**
N°1 de Chanel Revitalizing Foundation
“I love living through the renaissance of matte foundations. In fact, I wore velvety, modern-matte products all winter long (long live the 'cloud skin' trend!),” comments WWW beauty editor Kaitlyn McLintock. “I’ll never fully abandon these formulas, but I will occasionally switch them out for lighter, glowier alternatives. Enter Chanel’s No. 1 Revitalizing Foundation. Its serum-like consistency melts into my skin, providing a hydrated, luminous finish. Even though it’s moisturizing and featherlight, it still offers decent coverage (goodbye, rosacea). As the weather warms up, it feels natural to return to this beloved product.”
**Ditching: Outdated Nail Colors | Keeping: Flattering Spring Polishes**
**OPI**
Nail Lacquer in OPI’m a Bubble Bunny
**Ditching: Liquid Foundation | Keeping: Tinted SPF**
This season, WWW assistant beauty editor Sabrina Talbert is swapping her regular liquid foundation for tinted sunscreen. Merit’s The Uniform is her UV-protecting, blurring base of choice, offering sheer coverage and hydration. For spot treatments and additional coverage, she prefers something lighter than traditional concealer: her go-to complexion sticks from Merit and Live Tinted.
**Ditching: Hot Tools | Keeping: Air-Dry Creams**
**Crown Affair**
The Smoothing Air Dry Hair Styling Cream
“Okay, I'm not truly giving away my hot tools—imagine!—but I'm tucking them away in the back of my closet for the foreseeable future,” states WWW senior beauty editor Jamie Schneider. “When humidity rises, heat styling often backfires on my curly-wavy hair. My blow dryer and flat iron might smooth my strands temporarily, but they strip away natural oils, leading to thirsty hair and increased frizz. Instead of forcing my hair into sleek styles, I prefer to embrace my natural texture and use lightweight air-dry creams, like these from Crown Affair and Rōz.”
**Ditching: Powder Blush | Keeping: Liquid Blush**
**Juvia
