Seen in Los Angeles: The Enchanting Color Trend That All Fashionable Women Will Embrace This Summer
Beneath the glow of street lamps and amidst polished concrete, Jonathan Anderson brought Dior back to Hollywood to unveil his inaugural Cruise collection for the French fashion house. At the Los Angeles County Museum of Contemporary Art, the Northern Irish creative director filled the sleek, cement venue with his vision of noir glamour; a Lynchian blue light radiating from a convertible lowrider, the pounding bass line of Bot’Ox’s “Crashed Cadillac,” and elongated bar jackets with frayed hems paired with similarly distressed jeans. Despite the somber themes of the new season’s presentation and the vivid imagery of a gritty thriller—after all, it’s known as the Boulevard of Broken Dreams—guests still arrived dressed in vibrant, sun-kissed styles. While the overall aesthetic echoed the surrealism found in movies like Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars, those in the front row opted for attire more reminiscent of Malibu's sunny shores, showcasing warm hues and bold colors. The standout moment in this palette was the dreamy butter yellow donned by Sabrina Carpenter.
The pop star has formed a close working relationship with the brand, particularly as Dior has styled her for her headlining performances at Coachella, which also played with cinematic themes (she does have a theatrical background, after all). Sporting a drop-waist, halterneck gown crafted from airy chiffon, this look was particularly striking as it opened the show. Channeling the style of silver screen icons like Sharon Tate, the singer styled her hair half-up with a lace bow, complemented with Dior’s Cigale bag, satin bow heels, and a large rosette. Meanwhile, Chase Sui Wonders, the breakout actress from The Studio and former Who What Wear cover star, was also seen in that enchanting shade. Her outfit was from Dior’s recent autumn/winter 2026 line and featured a dramatically tiered scallop hem reminiscent of Bluebell flower bulbs. Monsieur Dior always had a connection to nature.
Although Hailey Bieber had declared butter yellow "over" last summer while promoting Rhode Beauty’s lemon-flavored Peptide Lip Treatment—an announcement that also helped revive vintage Pucci as a must-have for Riviera fashion—this high-fashion nod makes it clear that butter yellow is here to stay. Ethereal, delicate, and Dior-confirmed, explore the summer shade below.
