I don’t take style cues from men, but I *will* borrow these items from their summer wardrobes.
To begin with, I have many things I admire about my husband, and his wardrobe is definitely one of them. Most weeks, I find myself borrowing one of his blazers, T-shirts, or sweaters, and instead of resisting this trend, he has embraced the idea of sharing. There’s just something about oversized fits with tomboy vibes that elevates the cool-girl appeal. In a time when the influence of the Frankie Shop blazers and Saint Laurent ties is prominent, it seems outdated to even call any item “borrowed from the boys” (even though in my situation, they literally are), since women have been rocking boxy silhouettes and tailored styles for years. However, it has only recently that my fashion inspiration board has expanded to include men.
(Image credit: Getty Images) "I can't get enough of Josh O'Connor's fashion evolution!" I excitedly messaged the Who What Wear editor group chat while looking up green track pants. To be honest, I've saved way more Colman Domingo outfits than I probably should have, all in the name of research. But when considering my summer wardrobe for my upcoming trip, a number of A-list men have inspired a capsule wardrobe that feels fresh for 2026. Apologies to linen and floral dresses; they've served me well this spring, but for summer, I'm focusing on oversized T-shirts, short shorts, and plenty of comfy flats. While I will always have room in my closet for a romantic touch or two, when it comes to dressing practically for unpredictable weather, the guys have nailed it. Curious about what male celebrities are wearing this summer? Keep scrolling for numerous BDE (that's bold dressing examples). They might just inspire a purchase or two for your wardrobe as well.
1. Ruched Loafers
(Image credit: Getty Images/Raymond Hall/GC Images) Style Notes: Just when I thought I was committed to sandals, Colman Domingo proved that loafers could be a viable high-summer shoe choice. The idea of wearing anything but flip-flops during a heatwave was something I hadn’t considered (especially with socks), but pairing them with shorts offers enough balance to reconsider my definition of a suitable 'seasonal shoe'.
Shop Loafers:
- ALOHAS Aven Rift Burgundy Leather Loafers: ALOHAS is one of my favorite shoe brands at the moment.
- YSL Le Loafer Supple in Shiny Leather: These are at the top of my dream wishlist—grab them while you can.
- Massimo Dutti Soft Split Leather Loafers: The soft sand hue is perfect for warm weather.
2. Short Shorts
(Image credit: The Image Direct) Style Notes: Farewell, Bermudas; it was nice knowing you, but this season I'm all about the Harry hemline—a mid-thigh short that really grabs attention. While Harry often opts for retro sneakers, women have a broader selection available, ensuring there's a cut, print, or fabric to match anyone's style. Personally, I prefer something breathable, paired with a casual long-sleeve top like Styles’ look for relaxed weekends.
Shop Shorts:
- The Frankie Shop Adia Contrast-Hem Satin Shorts: These fall a bit lower than Harry's, so I’d pull them up high-waisted for the desired effect.
- FAITHFULL Aurora Checked Cotton and Linen-Blend Shorts: Aren't checks just adorable? A great option for evenings, too.
- H&M Lyocell-Blend Pull-On Shorts: Pair with an oversized tee for an effortless look.
- Alemais Scuba Embroidered Cotton-Poplin Shorts: These scream 'summer'.
3. Big, Big Bags
(Image credit: Getty Images/Photopix/Getty Images for ABA) Style Notes: Men appear to have skipped the accessory evolution that many women have gone through (from purse to clutch to crossbody to shoulder bag to tote), jumping directly from wallets in pockets to oversized bags. It’s been quite some time since we’ve shown such interest in what men are carrying in their bags (and surely there can't be more than a phone rattling around in Paul Anthony Kelly’s leather bag), but I do love the possibilities that a ridiculously spacious bag offers. Not only can it hold my laptop and essentials for the daily commute, but it also makes for the perfect airport-to-beach bag, truly a summer essential.
Shop Big Bags:
- Bottega Veneta Women's Large Andiamo in Black
- & Other Stories Leather Tote Bag: This green shade is incredibly chic.
- Gucci Gucci Giglio Large Tote Bag: Now this is a serious conversation starter.
4. The Perfect White Tee
