As a beauty writer observing Ramadan, here’s the skincare routine that I rely on for hydrated, glowing skin.

As a British-Pakistani Muslim working in the beauty industry, it might appear that the different aspects of my life and personality exist separately. After all, how could Ramadan relate to skincare? However, I have always integrated the various facets of my identity into both my professional and personal endeavors. This involves infusing the joy of Eid and Ramadan into creative moments at work—particularly by adjusting my skincare routine during Ramadan to align with the fresh patterns this holy month brings. Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims around the globe. During this time, Muslims refrain from food and drink during daylight hours, focusing on prayer, charity, and spiritual reflection. It is also a period of community, where many gather at mosques and participate in Iftar dinners. Naturally, shifts in diet and sleep patterns affect our bodies and skin. I've found that eliminating caffeine and many snacks helps clear my breakouts, yet I still maintain a skincare routine for its calming effect. As with many daily habits, my skincare regimen changes during Ramadan. I appreciate using this month to experiment with barrier-enhancing products while stepping back from active ingredients, allowing me to concentrate on the myriad joys of Ramadan. Through years of testing products and observing Ramadan, I have simplified the selection of skincare that combats dehydration and dullness while nurturing the essential skin barrier. I’ve curated a collection of products for those seeking multifunctional steps with optimal results, as well as optional additions for those, like myself, who relish the ritual of a more extended, mindful routine.

**My 9-Step Skincare Routine for Ramadan:**

      1. **Makeup Remover**

I am a strong proponent of double cleansing on makeup days—I believe that a single face wash cannot adequately remove all makeup. Even with breakout-prone skin, I start with an oil-based makeup remover, as it effectively dissolves everything without requiring harsh scrubbing.

       - **Shop Makeup Removers:**

       - *Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm*: This award-winning balm has a sorbet-like texture and is rich in antioxidants.

       - *ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Black Cherry Cleansing Balm*: This classic balm cleanser is now available in a delightful black cherry variant, offering sensory pleasure while being effective.

      2. **Cleanser**

For my second cleanse in Ramadan, I prefer using a gentle, milky cleanser that emulsifies with water. This removes any leftover makeup remover and deeply cleanses my face without stripping the already dry and dehydrated skin caused by limited fluid intake during the day.

       - **Shop Cleansers:**

       - *Byoma Milky Moisture Cleanser*: Featuring a proprietary Tri-Ceramide Complex, this cleanser is ideal for protecting delicate skin barriers.

       - *Aesop Gentle Facial Cleansing Milk*: Infused with botanicals and presented in a timeless bottle, this cleanser is a delight to use at both the start and end of my fasting day.

      3. **Toner/Essence/Mist**

Though this post-cleanse, pre-serum step often garners debate about its necessity, I find Ramadan a time for mindfulness. A comforting layer of hydration via a milky toner brings me great joy, and my thirsty skin appreciates it as well! If time is limited, any of the following products can serve in place of additional serums or moisturizers.

       - **Shop Toners, Essences, and Mists:**

       - *Dr.jart+ Ceramidin Skin Barrier Serum Toner*: This innovative hybrid formula leverages a blend of five ceramides to enhance the skin's moisture barrier.

       - *Violette_FR Boum Boum Milk Moisturising Spray Cream*: A 3-in-1 toner, serum, and moisturizer that provides hydration while maintaining the skin's balance, also adorned with gorgeous packaging.

      4. **Serum**

During Ramadan, the lack of hydration can affect the appearance and feel of my skin, making this step crucial for replenishing moisture. I generally seek serums that include hyaluronic acid and ceramides.

       - **Shop Serums:**

       - *Skinceuticals H.A. Intensifier Serum*: Reformulated for higher effectiveness, this serum prevents the breakdown of skin's hyaluronic acid reserves—ideal for Ramadan!

       - *Augustinus Bader The Serum*: If my finances allowed, I would use this every morning and night, as its proprietary TFC8 blend remarkably supports skin renewal.

      5. **Moisturiser**

I once believed that breakout-prone skin didn't require moisturizer, but I learned that skipping it only made my skin oilier. During Ramadan, extra hydration and nourishment are essential. The right formula will hydrate without clogging pores.

       - **Shop Moisturisers:**

       - *Paula's Choice Pro-Collagen Peptide Plumping Moisturiser
