Prada Group and UNFPA Broaden Their Fashion Training Initiative in Mexico
(Image credit: Courtesy of Prada) The latest collaboration from the Prada Group is not with a high-profile celebrity or a renowned athletic brand, but it remains significant nonetheless. This week, the company revealed the next stage of its partnership with UNFPA, the United Nations agency focused on sexual and reproductive health. Titled “Fashion Expressions: the Stories She Wears,” this joint initiative is now in its third edition and utilizes fashion as a means to empower women. Its goal is to enhance their skills, promote economic independence, prevent gender-based violence, and improve access to sexual and reproductive healthcare. The 2025 edition will feature 46 female artisans from Querétaro, Mexico. Lorenzo Bertelli, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Prada Group, shared the program's significance in a statement: "We are privileged to partner with UNFPA for the third consecutive year to bring this cultural initiative to life, where fashion acts as a medium for hope, independence, and empowerment—for both individuals and their communities." Additionally, Mariarosa Cutillo, Chief of UNFPA's Private Sector and Civil Society Branch, underscored the motivation behind the project: "Women are the backbone of the fashion and garment industry," she stated. The program will take place from April 2025 to February 2026.
