From "Morning After Makeup" to Millennial Side Parts—Fashion Month Has Launched These 7 Major Beauty Trends.
Fashion Month for Fall/Winter 2025 has officially concluded, beginning with New York Fashion Week and continuing through London, Milan, and Paris. Over these four weeks, we attended numerous shows, explored both new and established designer collections, navigated the chaos behind the scenes, and hurried from one event to another. It’s always a whirlwind, but as editors passionate about fashion and beauty, we wouldn’t want it any other way. These four weeks are packed with inspiration, expression, and creativity, while also providing insights into the year’s major beauty trends.
This year, the fashion scene gravitated towards what we are calling "nostalgic imperfection." Moving away from the glossy, flawless looks typically seen on the runways, the focus shifted to raw, authentic, and experimental aesthetics—think messy hair and makeup that looks like it was done in a hurry. Instead of sleek, ultra-modern styles, there was a nostalgic nod to previous trends (imagine millennial side parts and matte finishes). Bold lips and dramatic lashes were plentiful as well. Ahead, we present the seven most significant beauty trends that emerged from Fashion Month. Be ready for a wave of major beauty inspiration!
The fashion crowd remains enamored with CharliXCX's Brat aesthetic, as evident in the disheveled, party-inspired makeup seen at Blumarine, Ashish, Véronique Leroy, and Cecilie Bahnsen. This look embodies elements like glitter fallout, feathered lipstick, and prominent dark circles, giving the impression that models either slept in their makeup or came directly from a New York City nightclub. Achieving this appearance is simple: use black eyeliner, chunky glitter, and matte lip liners without much precision to create a cool, effortless vibe.
This vibe is echoed in looks from designers like Giorgio Armani, Ganni, Elie Saab, Chanel, Coperni, and Jil Sander, who showcased edgy, imperfect eye makeup. Armani presented double-winged eyeliner—an emerging trend from New York Fashion Week—while Chanel's thick black eyeliner was diffused for a smudgy, smoky effect, enhanced by drawn-on lashes for feathery wings.
Opinions on a particular hair parting style are strong, with both beauty editors and followers divided. Fashion Month prominently featured side parts, with designers like Acne Studios, Filipinxt, Burc Akyol, Ermanno Scervino, Véronique Leroy, and Giorgio Armani styling their models accordingly.
Another nostalgia-laden beauty trend familiar to millennials—especially those who avidly followed beauty content during the height of Instagram tutorials—has made a comeback. Unlike the matte finishes that often appeared dry and flat in the past, the matte looks of 2025 are reminiscent of TikTok's "cloud skin" trend, showcasing velvety complexions with a subtle glow.
Versace and Francesco Murano presented dark, vinyl-esque, and strikingly bold lips, while Hui, Lacoste, and Stella McCartney showcased vibrant, 80s-inspired pinks, reds, and fuchsias. Marco Rambaldi featured eye-catching silver lips. Throughout Fashion Month, designers embraced vivid lip colors, urging everyone to break from traditional shades and try daring, unconventional tones.
Brands like Rokh, Courreges, Vaquera, and Thom Browne sent their models down the runway with attention-grabbing lashes, whether adorned with bold jewels or colored, feathery designs. It’s clear that basic black lashes will not suffice in 2025; the time has come to experiment with innovative products and embellishments, including falsies.
Lastly, we noticed a niche trend within the bold lash category as seen at Giambattista Valli, Weinsanto, Peet Dullaert, Duran Latink, and others, featuring white-out eye makeup. From crystal-embellished lashes to striking white eyeliner strokes, models showcased piercing, frosty eyes.
