20 Spring Activities to Enjoy Once the Weather Heats Up

As soon as the temperatures reach 60 degrees or higher, I feel an urge to be outdoors every moment I can. While I might still need to wear a light jacket during my walks, at least I’m outside rather than stuck in a gym. After a long winter, there's something incredibly refreshing about basking in the sunshine, inhaling the fresh air, and soaking in the sounds of nature. In my opinion, springtime activities don’t necessarily have to involve physical exertion or be meticulously planned. Simply spending time outdoors uplifts my spirits and brings happiness.

If you’re seeking activities for the warmer weather, we have plenty of suggestions. Whether you’re interested in an adventure, want to get active, or simply wish to enjoy the sun, these spring activities are a wonderful way to welcome the season.

      1. Paint or sketch outside

Spring is an ideal season to start a new hobby, so why not unleash your creativity? If your artistic skills are limited like mine, keep in mind that it’s about the process, not the final product. Grab some pencils and paper or a canvas and paints, and set up outside. You'll be able to enjoy the sunshine while crafting something unique, regardless of the end result.

      2. Organize a spring dinner party

I'm not sure about you, but winter meant a lot of canceled plans for me. When braving freezing temperatures just to see friends, binge-watching Housewives was always the better option. Now that spring is here, it's the perfect opportunity to make up for lost time. Arrange a festive spring dinner party featuring seasonal dishes and delightful drinks. You can channel your inner Martha Stewart and prepare everything yourself or ease the burden with a potluck. Either way, it’s the ideal reason to gather and celebrate the new season.

      3. Read a book in a park

Reading in a park always gives me the feeling of being the main character in a romantic comedy. It’s a wonderful way to revel in nice weather without needing to plan a detailed outing or coordinate with others. All you need is a good book and a blanket or towel to relax on. Trust me, time will pass quickly before you even realize it.

      4. Discover your favorite spring drink

If you lack a signature drink for every season, it’s time to change that. Spend an afternoon experimenting with spritz recipes, tasting different wines, or mixing up mocktails until you find the perfect beverage to enjoy all patio season long. If you prefer a boost, focus on perfecting your favorite latte or matcha recipe. Whatever your drink choice, consider it a key part of your spring routine.

      5. Host a spring movie marathon

Just because spring can bring rainy days doesn’t mean you can’t embrace the season. Snuggle up on the couch with friends and binge-watch classic springtime films. A few of my must-rewatch titles for spring include Confessions of a Shopaholic, Emma, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

      6. Enjoy a bike ride

Believe me, I’m not an avid cyclist, but I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for bike rides. Recently, I rode a bike through a park for the first time since I was a child, and it was truly magical. There’s something liberating about cruising through nature (or just around your neighborhood) with sunlight on your skin and the wind blowing through your hair, making it a perfect spring activity after a long winter indoors. If you don’t have a bike, don’t worry. Many cities offer convenient bike rental services, and rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft can also help you access bikes. It’s time to make use of all those SoulCycle classes!

      7. Absorb some vitamin D

Let me start by saying: If you’re not wearing sunscreen every day, now is the time to begin. That said, I love soaking in the sun whenever possible, especially after a long, dreary winter. I’m not advocating for hours in direct sunlight, but a quick 15 to 20 minutes of vitamin D exposure can work wonders in lifting any residual winter gloom.

      8. Visit local festivals

One of my favorite spring activities is attending local events in my city. This spring, you can find flower festivals, berry festivals, farmer’s markets, and various live events popping up throughout the U.S. Most offer much more as well, such as live music, food, drinks, and carnival activities, so check out what’s happening locally for a fun weekend outing.

      9. Try pickleball

Is it just me, or did pickleball suddenly become the hottest topic? The sport has gained such popularity that courts are appearing everywhere. Pickleball combines elements of ping pong and tennis and has simple rules, offering endless fun. Since the play area is smaller than a tennis court, pickleball allows you to be close to others, making it both a great sport and a wonderful opportunity to bond with friends and family or even meet new people!
