      To be honest, it truly takes a unique occasion to persuade me to part ways with my cherished flat shoes. On a daily basis, you'll catch me in one of three styles: a reliable trainer, a timeless Mary Jane, or—my absolute favourite—a lovely ballet flat. They offer a perfect blend of comfort and elegance, harmonizing function and aesthetics, complementing everything from my favorite jeans to flowing skirts. Simply put, I haven't found a shoe that suits me better.

      Of course, not all ballet flats are alike, and over the years, a subtle hierarchy has emerged within my closet. For a long time, my minimalist black pairs were the most worn—versatile, sure, but perhaps a bit too understated. That was until I stepped into a beautifully crafted suede version from Arket, and suddenly, the rest of my collection seemed to take a backseat.

      Featuring a flattering high vamp and crafted from supple suede that gently conforms to the foot, Arket's suede ballet flats have become essential to my recent favorite outfits. At £149, they are priced slightly higher than some high-street alternatives, but in my view, they are worth every penny. The rich texture of the suede enhances depth and polish, elevating even the simplest ensembles. The softly rounded toe provides a refined touch, while the high-coverage design ensures comfort and support for all-day wear.

      Suede ballet flats are particularly trending this season. While patent and leather options remain timeless, suede presents a softer, more sophisticated twist on the trend—ideal for the lighter fabrics and airier silhouettes of spring. The matte finish and plush texture give suede a luxurious feel, making them a joy to wear daily.

      So far, I've been reaching for mine repeatedly, mostly paired with jeans and a trench coat, and it's rare for me to wear them without receiving a compliment. If you’re considering trying the ballet flat resurgence—or looking to refresh a beloved collection—this pair from Arket is an outstanding option. Having already sold out once, I wouldn’t be surprised if they fly off the shelves again soon.
