Beauty editors are a selective group. Our knowledge prevents us from being easily influenced by trends on the internet. We grant beauty products our genuine seal of approval only after personally testing them to ensure they meet or surpass our stringent standards. Recently, I've experimented with everything from TikTok-viral blushes to a widely recognized blurring balm, along with countless other products. However, I don't recall testing anything quite as hyped-up as the latest product I've tried: a peel-off lip stain.
These lip stains are ubiquitous online; I can't browse TikTok or Instagram without encountering one. At first glance, they seem incredible. Who wouldn’t want a product that offers all-day color with no need for touch-ups? It sounds like something out of my lip-combination dreams. Still, I wasn’t immediately convinced of their value. I’ve been disappointed by TikTok Shop previously. So, I decided to try three of the most talked-about lip stains and enlisted the help of my fellow editors. Read on for our candid opinions.

Wonder Blading Lip Stain
Wonderskin is one of the pioneering internet-viral lip stains. Don’t be intimidated by the cobalt-blue formula; once applied and peeled off, it reveals a stunning and long-lasting color. You can choose from nude, sheer, and full-pigment shades. Instructions: Apply the lip stain, wait for 60 seconds, spritz with the Wonderskin Activator Spray (available separately or as part of a kit), and peel. Having never used a peel-off lip stain, I approached it carefully with the shade XOXO, a light rose hue. The initial cobalt-blue didn’t bother me; I had done my homework. After applying the Activator Spray, I peeled it off in one go, which was incredibly satisfying. A few little blue remnants lingered in the inner corners of my lips, so I used a tissue to wipe them away.
I LOVED the outcome. My lips had a delicate rosy-pink tint that looked gorgeous alone and even better topped with a light gloss. The best part was its durability—I’m a confessed coffee lover, and I noticed fading only around the seven-hour mark. I can see this becoming a favorite in my low-effort but impactful daily makeup routine.

If Wonderskin is the OG internet-viral lip stain, then I would name this as the most buzz-worthy. I see Sacheu's Peel Off Lip Liner Stay-N on my feed daily. It helps that Billie Eilish featured it in a TikTok makeup tutorial.
Unlike the cobalt-blue formula, this one has a dark purple, inky appearance when applied. But once it dries, you’re left with beautifully defined lips. Choose from 10 shades, ranging from nude to coral and red. Instructions: Cleanse and exfoliate your lips, or at least ensure product residue is removed. Apply the lip stain, and let it set for up to 20 minutes. Once it has set, gently peel it off with your fingers. Features: Long-wear, transfer-proof, waterproof.
