Beauty Editors Concur—This Clean Fragrance Brand Is Truly *That Girl* for Summer
There’s no better season than summer to experiment with new fragrances. While spring is still with us for a little while longer, fellow Who What Wear beauty editor Kaitlyn McLintock and I exchanged our "must-wear" fragrance picks for the approaching warmer months. During one of our discussions, McLintock shared her passion for the clean fragrance line The 7 Virtues and its incredibly appealing scents. If summer had a fragrance ambassador, it would undoubtedly be 7 Virtues. Each scent is warm, light, fruity, and lively, making them ideal for any sunny outdoor event. I must admit, it’s uncommon for me to find a clean fragrance brand that I genuinely adore. Often, cleaner options lack the longevity or projection I desire from a fragrance, but these are truly exceptional. They check all the boxes. Founded by author and activist Barb Stegemann, the brand sources fair-trade, organic, and sustainably harvested essential oils from areas rebuilding after conflicts or disasters. Each bottle is filled with care, and the quality of the ingredients is outstanding. Having gotten to know the brand well, it has become one of my favorites in the clean fragrance market. McLintock and I each have a few scents we can't stop raving about, and we want to share them because they're too amazing to keep to ourselves. If you’re in search of a new spring-summer fragrance, keep reading. We've outlined our top picks from The 7 Virtues below.
The 7 Virtues
Candied Lychee Eau De Parfum
Key notes: Lychee, peony, vanilla
I have a real fondness for a delightful gourmand, and this scent is a sensory delight. The lychee, peony, and vanilla notes create such a luxurious combination. It’s sweet, juicy, and perfect for summer. One of my sweetest fragrances, it finds an exquisite balance between fruity, light, and sugary. It slightly reminds me of my ultimate favorite fragrance: Parfums de Marly Delina Exclusif ($250). "This perfume is light and fresh, reminiscent of the first warm day of spring. With notes of lychee, peony, and vanilla, it's a genuine fruity-floral fragrance. Lychee fans will find it revitalizing. Unlike other lychee scents, this one isn’t powdery or artificial; it perfectly captures the essence of the juicy fruit." — McLintock

Clementine Dream Eau De Parfum With Vanilla
Key notes: Clementine, magnolia, vanilla
I must confess: citrus fragrances usually don’t appeal to me. No offense to them, but they aren’t typically scents I envision wearing in my daily life. That changed with Clementine Dream. This fragrance strikes the perfect balance of zest without resembling household cleaner, if you know what I mean. The magnolia adds a bubbly, sparkling quality, while the vanilla introduces the sweetness many citrus fragrances tend to lack. "Most citrus scents come across as one-dimensional, but Clementine Dream offers a full experience. With just one spray, you can perceive the green, herbal essence of citrus leaves, the slightly bitter peel, the juicy fruit, and even the warm sun soaking the tree's leaves. It's sophisticated and intricate, akin to 'an Italian citrus grove meeting the French Riviera,’ as The 7 Virtues’ founder Barbara Stegemann puts it." — McLintock
The 7 Virtues
Coconut Sun Eau De Parfum
Key notes: Coconut, frangipani, vanilla, orange flower, jasmine
This is the quintessential summer gourmand fragrance. Both McLintock and I believe this is one of the best offerings from the brand. It’s like a vacation to the Bahamas in a bottle. The fresh, sweet, and airy notes of coconut, frangipani, vanilla, and orange flower are irresistible. I adore fragrances like this for summer, but I’ll be honest; I’ll continue wearing it well into fall because it’s that good. The brand also collaborated with Charity Water for this scent to support its sustainable water project in Ethiopia, which is an added bonus. "This isn't just my favorite perfume from The 7 Virtues; it’s my favorite summer fragrance, period. Coconut water and citrus evoke the aroma of sunscreen, sea salt mimics ocean air, and frangipani and vanilla evoke sun-warmed skin and warm sand. It’s essentially a beach day captured in a bottle." — McLintock
