      Devon Lee Carlson reflects on the early days of Gucci's allure in the Carlson household, recalling her sister's fascination with the brand during their childhood. “She even had a Gucci-themed birthday cake,” Carlson tells Who What Wear. From those early celebrations with GG cakes, the social media influencer, model, and co-founder of Wildflower Cases has evolved into a genuine Gucci enthusiast, attending the front row of several of the brand's runway shows, including the latest cruise 2026 collection in Florence—the city where the iconic Italian fashion house was established 104 years ago in 1921. This Gucci show is significant as it features the first collection since Demna's appointment as artistic director. However, the fashion world will have to wait until September's spring 2026 show to witness his inaugural collection for the brand. The collection, showcased by the in-house studio team, already hints at Demna's influence, combined with classic elements from the brand’s legacy—the allure of Tom Ford, the whimsical prints of Alessandro Michele, and the robust tailoring of Sabato De Sarno. The Gucci woman embodies playfulness and sophistication, merging luxurious coats and leather pencil skirts with acetate aviator sunglasses and bright neon accents. The runway looks resonate with many of the reasons Carlson feels a deep connection to the brand and its heritage. “I’m channeling a Tom Ford Gucci girl in this look tonight,” she explained while preparing in her hotel room, choosing black eyeliner and a shiny blowout to complement her all-black sequined Gucci outfit. We spoke with Carlson just as she was heading out for the Gucci 2026 cruise runway show.

      Do you have any pre-show routines or rituals?

      Well, when I’m watching a show, I usually have an espresso martini beforehand about 90% of the time. It just feels festive and essential—really gets me in the right mood.

      What is something about your runway show prep that people wouldn’t expect?

      When I’m going to a show, I don’t really plan my hair and makeup in advance. It’s mainly whatever I’m in the mood for at that moment.

      Tell me about your beauty routine and the inspiration behind your look today.

      I really enjoy beauty routines. I lounge in bed with my red light mask and elevate my legs (a great trick for enhancing circulation). I also did a sheet mask and frequently apply moisturizer, which I love.

      I'd like to know about the look you chose today. What elements of your outfit resonate with you and your personal style?

      I’m wearing adorable black sequin mini shorts paired with a matching sweater—I absolutely love it. I’m a fan of sequins, so this look reflects my style.

      What's the most touristy activity you'll indulge in while in Florence?

      Pasta, and lots of it.

      Gucci has so many iconic items. If you could choose one piece from the archives to wear for a special occasion, which would it be?

      I actually own Kate Moss’s leather dress from the spring 2001 Gucci show, but having any complete look from the first Gucci show in 1995 would be incredibly fun.

      What is your favorite look from the Gucci 2026 cruise collection?

      I feel like Rihanna would wear [Look 17], and I absolutely adore this shade of blue.

      What were the front row conversations focused on?

      My sunglasses. Nobody had seen them before! We are all obsessed.

      Which Gucci runway piece are you already planning to add to your wardrobe? How will you style it?

      The hot-pink shoes and bags. I’ll style them with either a little black dress or sweatpants.
