Out of nowhere, the only fragrance that captivates me this summer is Drake's surprising new scent.
Honestly, I anticipated that Drake's initial fragrance from his new venture, Better World Fragrance House, would be something woody and traditionally masculine—dark and moody, in fact. Instead, what I encountered was entirely unexpected. As someone who is absolutely devoted to sweeter notes like lychee, apple blossom, and vanilla, I was shocked by how quickly I became enamored with Summer Mink ($148). It exudes an effortless cool-girl vibe—a certain indulgence that's impossible to overlook. Its amber-rich scent, combined with vibrant, sparkling, and creamy musk notes, gives it a distinctive charm, ensuring it will be my go-to for the season. If you'd like to hear more about this summer marvel, keep reading; I’m sharing my thoughts below.
**BETTER WORLD FRAGRANCE HOUSE**
Summer Mink Eau de Parfum
Key notes: Top: Italian citrus, clary sage oil, petitgrain oil, rose oil, jasmine sambac, spices, patchouli oil, ambrofix, musk
I truly didn't expect to adore this fragrance as much as I do. I usually prefer gourmand scents, so this was a delightful revelation. First off, the musky-sweet profile featuring notes of citrus, rose oil, jasmine, and patchouli is delightful. Patchouli can sometimes dominate, overwhelming the fragrance if not balanced well. However, this one is beautifully composed. All the notes meld perfectly without skewing too sweet, too musky, or too amber-like. Although the fragrance is meant to be seasonless—true to its name—it undeniably feels like a summer scent to me, thanks to its airy, fresh, sweet, and crisp character right from the initial spray. Perhaps it's the citrus notes at the forefront, but it evokes thoughts of a summer getaway in Italy—imagining yourself basking on the Amalfi Coast with the breeze in your hair and serene sparkling waters inviting you for a swim. The dry-down adds intrigue, transforming into something warm, sensual, and utterly scrumptious. I have yet to find a better fragrance for transitioning from day to night. It’s lovely for a sunny outing, yet equally suitable for dinner or a night out with friends. Its versatility means I’ll be reaching for this well into fall as well. If you enjoy creamy, sweet, musky scents with a touch of sparkle, then this is definitely one to try. Honestly, I was uncertain of what to expect—originally thinking it might lean towards woody or aquatic—but it turns out to be a beautifully unique fragrance that lasts impressively on the skin.
