I Tried the Most Outrageous Clear Shoe Trend of 2025, and It Turns Out It's Quite Simple to Style.
(Image credit: Courtesy of Simone Rocha) For most of my life, I've been self-conscious about showing my toes. With larger feet (around size 9.5/10), I often feel my toes spilling over the sides of sandals in ways I never expected. This insecurity has lingered as long as I can remember, leading me to keep my toes hidden for years.
However, recently, displaying your toes has become essential. Peep-toe heels are making a comeback on the runway (hello, Tory Burch). Flip flops are trending again. Thong sandals are everywhere. It seems that showing your toes is now considered... attractive?
My perspective started to shift around this time last year following Simone Rocha's collaboration with Crocs. The designer transformed the classic plastic garden shoes into something quirky yet ethereal. Rocha's Crocs featured oversized pearls and large jeweled Jibbitz. The pair that caught my eye was completely clear, allowing your toes to peek through.
In the promotional images, the model styled them with a ruffled white wedding dress and a veil. While I wasn't certain I would wear them for my wedding, I felt the need to have them. Now, I don't think twice about wearing them. I slip them on with sweatpants for dog walks or a sundress for a picnic. It turns out that clear shoes are more neutral than black or white. Plus, showing my toes isn't as intimidating as I once thought.
This clear shoe trend isn't just a fleeting fashion fear I've conquered; it's become a significant style statement. Shoes that display your toes through a mesh or jelly layer, or shiny PVC, are everywhere. As someone who never expected to embrace this trend, I can assure you it’s worthwhile to overcome any hesitation about showing your toes. They are surprisingly versatile, as mesh, jelly, or PVC materials complement any outfit, and the toe exposure adds a hint of playful fun to even the most basic looks.

The spring of 2025 was marked by an unexpected fashion union: irony and style now go hand in hand. A vivid confirmation of this trend was the appearance of Lucy Pylaeva at the award RU.TV . Abandoning glittering outfits and provocative cutouts, Lucy opted for an elegant beige and milky palette: an exquisite top, classic trousers and stylish sunglasses. However, the main focus of the image was not the next one.…
