Observed in Monaco: Six Trends Worn by F1's Most Stylish WAGs Over the Grand Prix Weekend
Unless you've been completely unaware this month, you're likely aware that the Monaco Grand Prix occurred over Memorial Day weekend in Monte Carlo, attracting A-listers from nearby areas (mostly Cannes, where many were attending the city's annual film festival) and from far away. However, the standout appearances during the race-weekend events weren't made by the celebrities, at least not in terms of their outfits. Instead, the wives and girlfriends (WAGs) of Formula 1's star drivers captured our attention and earned our vote for the unofficial best dressed of the event. Apologies to Lando Norris, but you weren’t the only one who shone in the paddock that weekend. The girlfriends of F1 drivers should be on the lookout for Louis Vuitton-sponsored trophies soon, too. To honor their style during this highlight of F1 (i.e., the Monaco Grand Prix), I’ve compiled some of the top fashion trends showcased by the sport's most stylish WAGs, ranging from Alexandra Saint Mleux—who is a certified Rhode girl, dog mom to Leo, and partner of Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc—to Rebecca Donaldson, the Scottish model and content creator dating Williams driver Carlos Sainz. Expect to see scenes with Chanel slingbacks, mini Hermès Kelly bags, and other fashionable moments just as lavish as the locale they adorned.
**Drop-Waist Dresses**
Alexandra Saint Mleux consistently looks fashionable, but the drop-waist dress she donned on race day is undoubtedly one of her best paddock outfits to date. This simple cotton dress, designed by Jacquemus (Simon Porte Jacquemus), was also worn by him at the race while socializing with Mleux. She paired the dress with black sandals, a croc handbag, oversized earrings, and a classic silver Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra necklace. Just watch—her exact dress, currently on sale at Net-a-Porter, will likely be sold out soon.
**Silk-Scarf Styling**
Nothing elevates your look to what can be deemed “Monaco-expensive” quite like a silk scarf, whether it's tied in your hair like a bandana or worn around your neck—both styles were sported by Carmen Montero Mundt, partner to Mercedes-AMG driver George Russell, in one day during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. She styled her scarf in her hair with a cream halter top and crisp white high-waisted linen pants by Silvia Tcherassi.
**Fishnet Shoes**
Sofia Richie Grainge isn’t the only one stepping up her game with fishnet flats and heels. Rebecca Donaldson is on the same wavelength, having opted for Jimmy Choo's Amita slingbacks in white for a private screening of F1: The Movie ahead of the race weekend, instead of choosing Proenza Schouler's pair.
**Halter Dresses**
Halter dresses have emerged as favorites among fashionable attendees at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2025, including Mundt, who selected a light-turquoise Alexis knit halter dress with tiered fringe details. She completed her elegant warm-weather ensemble with a brown Hermès mini Kelly bag and tan heeled sandals.
**Chanel Slingbacks**
Francisca Cerqueira Gomes, also known as Kika, nails the low-key-chic aesthetic every time. Last year at the Monaco Grand Prix, she arrived at the paddock wearing a billowy button-down shirt, vintage Levi's, Hermès Oran sandals, and a vintage Gucci Jackie bag. This year, she switched the jeans for a simple black knit dress and Chanel flat slingbacks, refreshing her look with G-logo Gucci sunglasses.
**Top-Handle Mini Bags**
It seems that whenever I spot a WAG in the paddock at an F1 race, she’s nearly always holding a top-handle mini bag, typically from Hermès, but also from Bottega Veneta, Loro Piana, or Jacquemus. These compact bags meet the necessary size requirements (though paddock access often allows for larger bags), yet can still accommodate essentials like a Rhode Tinted Peptide Lip Treatment, an iPhone, and a small card case. Plus, attaching your paddock pass to the top loop keeps the lanyard from interfering with your outfit's appearance.
