I recently tested a high-tech "Zit Zapper" to find out if it could help clear my hormonal breakout.
Occasionally, a skincare tool emerges that captures the interest of editors and beauty enthusiasts. This season, that tool is the Ziip Dot. You might already recognize this brand for its well-known facial microcurrent device, the Ziip Halo. However, the latest release offers something a bit different. While it still employs microcurrent technology, this device is specifically designed to target breakouts. I like to refer to it as a highly advanced version of a spot sticker; in fact, the brand calls it a "zit zapper." As a beauty editor who experiences hormonal breakouts occasionally and has tried everything from top cleansers to effective spot treatments to eliminate blemishes, I was eager to give this a try. Below, I have included a comprehensive review of the tool, along with before-and-after images and videos showcasing the tool's performance. So, why wait? Keep reading to discover more...

**What Does the Ziip Dot Do?**
The Ziip Dot aims to quickly clear and soothe breakouts and redness. Notably, it is the world’s first microcurrent spot device, and its compact size is perfect for addressing specific skin areas. You may be curious about its functionality. It employs microcurrent to reduce inflammation and swelling, while nanocurrent™ mimics the body's natural electrical currents to promote skin cell renewal and repair, aiding the healing of breakouts. Although both microcurrent and nanocurrent™ utilize low-level electrical currents, microcurrent is more vigorous, which is why it is often used for lifting and sculpting, whereas nanocurrent™ is gentler because it mimics the body’s processes.
**How Do You Use The Ziip Dot?**
So, how is this tool used? I initially thought it would be complicated, but it turned out to be quite straightforward. Start by applying two to three pumps of conductive gel to the area of skin you wish to treat. This step is crucial as the gel not only protects the skin but also facilitates the passing of waveforms from the device through the skin. Next, press the power button, and the device will illuminate and beep to signal that it's ready for use. Place the tool on the targeted skin area and move it back and forth while ensuring continuous contact with the skin. A slight tingling sensation is normal. After one minute, the device will switch from "treat" mode to "calm" mode, which signals it has slowed down slightly. This final mode is designed to soothe the skin before completing the treatment.
**My Review of the Ziip Dot: Before and After Using the Ziip Dot**
Recently, I experienced a hormonal breakout on my chin. While most of it had cleared, a few blemishes lingered that I was eager to eliminate. I acknowledge that I may not be the best candidate for this tool, as I usually have clear skin aside from occasional hormonal breakouts. However, I wanted to see if it could accelerate the healing process.
One aspect I appreciate about this brand is the ease of use of the Ziip skincare tools. I've often hesitated to incorporate such devices into my routine due to the complexity of adding unnecessary steps, but this particular device felt simple to integrate into either my morning or evening routine, depending on when I chose to use it.
Another feature I like is the tool's compactness. Its smaller size makes it convenient to take on trips, and it’s easy to store in either my bathroom or on my dressing table. Initially, it felt a bit odd using a microcurrent device on a blemish (the tingling can take some getting used to), but overall, I appreciated the experience. Although the images may not visibly showcase the difference, I certainly felt it. After a few days of testing, my breakouts appeared smaller and less painful, clearing up significantly faster than if I had left them untreated. However, I did notice that the tool did not seem to help with post-blemish scarring, as a bit of redness and inflammation persisted even after several days of use. While the tool is effective for calming breakouts, I wouldn't expect complete blemish removal. Still, I'm eager to continue testing to see if it will yield more significant results with longer use.
There is no doubt that this product is pricey, and you may wonder if it justifies the expense. If you only experience occasional spots, it may not be worth the investment, but it could be a valuable tool if you frequently
