White skinny pants are out of style—here's the sophisticated trend that seasoned shoppers are choosing instead.

      When it comes to fashion trends, we can all be somewhat changeable—myself included. One day, I might declare something as “out,” only for it to make a comeback the very next day after an influential celebrity wears it. I totally understand—it can be annoying, but that’s the nature of fashion in the digital age. A person who has had a significant impact on the fashion scene, and whom I believe to be a highly seasoned shopper, is Charlize Theron. She was recently seen in NYC promoting her new film. I have confidence that whatever she chooses to wear will be on-trend but never too extravagant, including the pants she donned on that warm June day.

      I’m going to assert that something I’ve associated with summer, stemming from my upbringing in the South, seems somewhat outdated in 2025. The style I refer to is white skinny pants, and just to clarify, Theron was not wearing those. I do think skinny pants are making a comeback, but it’s the black and navy versions that I notice most frequently, along with classic prints like gingham. In terms of white pants, however, it’s the loose, relaxed styles that are in vogue for 2025, rather than slim cuts—just like those that Theron paired with a Bottega Veneta trench-style shirt and high-heeled sandals.
