Grodetour: Russian brand with Mediterranean aesthetics.
This spring, the new Russian women's clothing brand Grodetour introduced its first summer collection, inspired by the aesthetic of the Mediterranean lifestyle. The collection's foundation consists of quite classic silhouettes, but almost each one features a bright, memorable accent: lace inserts, trim made of braid, unexpected fabrics, or inspiring prints. Undoubtedly, clothing often silently communicates with the surrounding world, and the brand team aimed to reflect in each item of the new collection the chosen stylistic concept: love of life, comfort, and simple femininity that doesn't require sacrifices.
"We take inspiration from French and Italian women," say the creators. "They dress primarily for themselves: for their comfort and their worldview. Their fashion is understandable and tangible: mostly natural fabrics and comfortable silhouettes suitable for hundreds of situations. Styles that are easy and pleasant to wear and don't go out of fashion three months after purchase. When you don't have to sacrifice anything to be stylish because fashion and style serve you themselves."
Work on the collection took almost two years: during this time, the brand team gained extensive experience and assembled a small group of like-minded people. "It wasn’t easy, but in the end, it worked out, and now our small laboratory is constantly busy creating new models. After all, we develop all our products—from sketches to the final batch—ourselves," the company shares.
Equally interesting is the story behind the brand's name, especially since it is directly connected to the fashion world: grodetour is a fabric that was popular in the 19th century. It was silk—meaning high quality and status. At the same time, it was practical: it didn't wrinkle and was hard to stain due to its weaving features.
As a result of this perfect combination, grodetour became so in demand that many could afford it, and it was mass-produced throughout the country, something that had never happened before even with popular fabrics. This fabric is mentioned even in the works of great classic authors F.M. Dostoevsky and N.S. Leskov.
"We realized that this name reflects everything that is important to us in our work and what we strive to meet, because we also develop beautiful, high-quality items from expensive materials. We try to make them practical (wrinkle-free, with water-repellent coatings, etc.) and aim to keep attractive prices for you," the brand says.
