Victoria Beckham's new blush shouldn't be making my skin look this amazing.
Make no mistake, I am an avid fan of blush. Not a single day passes without me adding a touch of rouge to my cheeks. As a beauty director, I can confidently say that a quality blush is the most crucial makeup product for achieving that highly sought-after, lit-from-within radiance. However, my admiration for blush is matched only by my affection for Victoria Beckham Beauty. In my (absolutely correct) view, the makeup products from Victoria Beckham Beauty provide an effortlessly achieved, natural yet refined look that other brands can only aspire to. So, when my two passions converge and a new blusher from Victoria Beckham Beauty arrives on my desk, you can be sure it grabs my attention. Introducing: Victoria Beckham Beauty Colour Wash Blush Water Tint.
And I understand your curiosity—doesn't Victoria Beckham Beauty already have a blusher? Yes, and it’s great. The cream blush formula, Cheeky Posh, comes in a creamy stick that you can apply directly to your cheeks and blend with your fingers. Its velvety texture makes for a seamless blend, resulting in a soft, dewy finish. Honestly, it's among my favorite blushes. Its user-friendliness and intuitive concept make it perfect for makeup-lazy individuals like me. But Colour Wash? It’s a different story.
The Concept of Colour Wash as a blush isn't a novel idea—it’s a cheek tint. This type of formula offers advantages such as enhanced longevity and a lightweight, water-like feel. The finishes are typically more skin-like and naturally appearing. My main concern before trying it? They can be messy. In the past, I've found that blending quickly is essential, and there's little margin for error. I preferred not to deal with messy droppers and brushes—I want to swipe, blend with my fingers, and move on. To be candid, while I was excited to be among the first to try the new Colour Wash Blush Water Tints, I was also uncertain.
What sets Colour Wash's formula apart is the inclusion of skincare ingredients. Enriched with mineralized seawater for energy, coconut fruit water for hydration, and an Australian superfruit extract to enhance luminosity, Colour Wash promises to deliver a radiant glow that appears seamlessly natural.
The Shades available in Colour Wash include three options: Flushed (a true red that Victoria considers her signature), Coral (a warm-toned coral), and Vintage Rose (a deep, berry-toned purple). While the shades of Cheeky Posh are buildable, their more opaque formula means they lack stretchability as a key feature. Conversely, the Colour Wash shades feature a sheer, water-like texture, making them much more suitable for a variety of skin tones. As someone who loves a deeper blush, I was particularly drawn to Flushed and Vintage Rose.
The packaging is undeniably chic, very much in line with VB’s aesthetic. The small bottles are made of clear, frosted glass that showcases the tint, allowing for easy differentiation in your makeup bag if you own multiple shades. It's safe to say they feel luxurious. This special touch is what distinguishes a VBB product—it's a slice of everyday luxury that boosts your confidence.
My main worry, though, was about the delivery method—a pipette. Pipettes are not my style. They can be messy and require effort that I don't think is necessary to achieve a great finish. Viewing the Victoria Beckham Beauty website showed the tint being dispensed onto a surface using the dropper and then applied with a buffing brush (whereas I typically use my beloved multi-use Hourglass brush to blend Cheeky Posh or my fingers). For those of us who tend to be both messy and lazy, this can be off-putting. At first, I tried this method and applied the product to my hand before swirling in my brush, but the stain left on my hand was less than ideal. So, I committed the beauty-editor cardinal sin and applied the dropper directly to my face.
Surprisingly, I was impressed. The dropper is firm, making it easy to control how much product you’re using. In fact, I hardly needed to activate the dropper at all; I simply rolled the tip over the high points of my cheek before blending it out with a buffing brush. This process was much less messy than I had anticipated, taking about 10 seconds.
It’s worth noting that while you’ll need to blend quickly compared to a cream blush (I recommend doing one cheek at a time), there is significantly more blendability than similar products. You can easily move and blend without worrying about unwanted streaks.
My only suggestion? If you don't have a sink nearby to wash the tint off your hands, avoid using your fingers to blend—it will stain.
The Result: I acknowledge that I’m proudly boasting here, but just look at my skin. I genuinely don’t believe I’ve ever used a blush that makes my skin look this incredible. My
