Mark my words—this luxurious-looking hair color is set to be the most sought-after choice of 2025.
As a beauty director who often scrolls through Instagram, it takes something truly remarkable to catch my attention. Usually, I find myself drawn to striking makeup images, but last night, I was captivated by a hair trend. Specifically, I was mesmerized by an image of Sarah Pidgeon's hair, styled by one of Hollywood's top hair stylists, Bryce Scarlett, for the premiere of her film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. You may wonder what makes this image so special? Pidgeon is sporting a new hair color trend—what I’m calling nineties blonde. It is, without a doubt, the most beautifully luxurious blonde look I've ever seen, and it's generating quite a bit of buzz online.
In case you missed it, Sarah Pidgeon will portray the iconic nineties style figure, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, in Ryan Murphy's American Love Story, set to debut next year. When Murphy shared teaser images, the internet exploded over Pidgeon's bleach-blonde wig (at the time, her hair was a rich brunette). Everyone agreed that the bleached look didn't adequately reflect Bessette-Kennedy’s signature, luxuriously worn blonde hair from the nineties. So, it’s clear that Pidgeon's hair has been quite the topic of discussion. Now, she's gone blonde for real, and this time, the response is overwhelmingly positive. This actress's new hair color seems to draw inspiration from the relaxed, luxurious nineties blonde of CBK—and she has certainly nailed the look.
The coloring was done by colorist Kari Hill, and the beauty lies in the intricate details of the work. A subtle root smudge softens the regrowth, resulting in a gentle transition. However, it's the color of the hair that truly takes my breath away. Tiny, golden-hued highlights blend seamlessly with honeyed low-lights, while bright blonde ribbons frame her face, creating a multi-dimensional, luxurious blonde that I've never encountered before. Although the coloring process was likely elaborate, the end result mimics a natural hair color—the kind of molten blonde that fashionable women in the nineties, including CBK, effortlessly tossed from side to side on the streets of New York.
I'm telling you now: this is set to be the most sought-after hair color of 2025.
