I've been curious about Chad Michael Murray's fragrance since 2001—now I’ve discovered it's this French hair perfume.
(Image credit: Getty Images) I consider Chad Michael Murray to be the quintessential rom-com star of the early 2000s, and I know many millennials who would concur. He portrayed Tristin in Gilmore Girls, Lucas in One Tree Hill, and Jake in Freaky Friday, but I most closely associate him with his role as Austin Ames, or Nomad609 (IYKYK), in the significant 2004 film A Cinderella Story. Back then, I would have given up my beloved blue raspberry body glitter just to know what fragrance he wore. After nearly 25 years of waiting, I've finally learned what I was curious about all those years ago. Recently, Murray graced the NYC screening of Freakier Friday wearing a hair perfume along with its corresponding eau de parfum—both from a famed French fragrance house.
The Exact Hair Perfume
Parfums de Marly
Valaya Hair Mist
Fragrance notes: bergamot, mandarin, white peach, orange flower, Nympheal, vetiver, akigalawood, ambrofix, musk. Celebrity groomer Laila Hayani completed Murray's look for the Freakier Friday NYC premiere with a spritz of Parfums de Marly's Valaya Hair Mist. Featuring notes such as bergamot, mandarin, and vetiver, it strikes a balance between floral, woody, and musky. While Murray showcased this hair perfume on the red carpet, I plan to incorporate it into my daily life. Its soft and understated scent is suitable for daytime, yet it's also musky and sultry for evenings. I appreciate that the aroma clings to my hair, lasting longer than typical perfumes on my skin and clothes. Speaking of traditional perfume, Murray wore both. (It seems he's embracing the "scentmaxxing" trend that's been trending on TikTok.) Find the eau de parfum available for purchase below.
The Matching Fragrance
Parfums de Marly
Valaya Eau de Parfum
Fragrance notes: bergamot, mandarin, white peach, orange flower, Nympheal, vetiver, akigalawood, ambrofix, musk. The brand describes this fragrance as "an evocation of the skin caressed by a veil of cotton." Therefore, I think it could certainly be regarded as a skin scent. Initially floral and fruity, it develops into a soft, subtle "your skin but better" effect as it dries down. It's among my favorite Parfums de Marly offerings, and now that I know Chad Michael Murray is also a fan, it makes it even better.
