The brand was established by Fabienne Sebaoun, a cosmetic chemist who created a patented formulation known as SMR-C5 Complex, consisting of five active components already found in the skin that assist in fortifying its structure.

However, with my combination skin, I prefer a lightweight formula over a greasy one, and this Mimétique balm fits the bill perfectly.

      Suitable for all skin types, this cloud-like formula effectively removes my makeup (even stubborn mascara) and leaves my skin feeling silky without any oily residue. You’ll notice it transforms into a cleansing milk when mixed with water, enhancing its lightweight feel. It includes squalane, rice waves, plum, and grape oil for hydration, while bisabolol soothes any irritation, making it ideal for my sensitive skin. I did follow up with a water-based cleanser for my usual double cleanse at night, but this product was a welcome addition to my routine. I appreciated the tube packaging, which is more travel-friendly than the usual bulky tubs many cleansing balms come in. The only downside was the scent; despite being unfragranced, some of the natural scents of the ingredients weren’t my favorite, but otherwise, I had no complaints.

The concentrated formula combines the SMR-C5 complex with niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, and vitamin C for brightening and nourishing the skin while also regulating sebum production. It checks all the boxes for me, and after using it in my evening routine, my skin appeared virtually radiant.
