I Desire Parisian-Like Skin—This Stylish New French Brand Just Saved Me the Travel Miles
Ask me about the top skincare brands available, and I can assure you that many of the names I'll mention are French. It's a fact that French pharmacy skincare products are unmatched. My daily skincare routine is filled with French essentials, from La Roche-Posay to Bioderma, as I continually aim for that Parisian glow. So when I discovered that a new French skincare brand had just launched in Space NK, I felt compelled to try it out. Introducing Mimétique.
I have been trying out a new French skincare brand, Mimétique, which is new to the UK market.
What is Mimétique?
Presented in minimalistic packaging with a stylish, clinical look, this French dermocosmetics brand emphasizes the use of biomimetics to replicate and enhance the skin's natural characteristics. While it may sound intricate and confusing, the essence of the brand is about providing your skin with ingredients it already understands and appreciates, which helps it to further heal and protect itself. The brand was established by Fabienne Sebaoun, a cosmetic chemist who created a patented formulation known as SMR-C5 Complex, consisting of five active components already found in the skin that assist in fortifying its structure.
One aspect I appreciate is that the collection comprises only four products. As a beauty editor, I recognize how overwhelming the skincare market can be, and I prefer this brand’s simpler approach. With offerings including a cleanser, moisturizer, serum, and face oil, I was able to cover nearly my entire skincare routine using this line, so continue reading for my impressions.

Mimétique Skincare Review
1. Mimétique Skin Cloud Baume Demaquillant
First on the list is this balm cleanser. I’m a fan of cleansing balms and typically incorporate them as the initial step in my evening routine to remove makeup. However, with my combination skin, I prefer a lightweight formula over a greasy one, and this Mimétique balm fits the bill perfectly.
Suitable for all skin types, this cloud-like formula effectively removes my makeup (even stubborn mascara) and leaves my skin feeling silky without any oily residue. You’ll notice it transforms into a cleansing milk when mixed with water, enhancing its lightweight feel. It includes squalane, rice waves, plum, and grape oil for hydration, while bisabolol soothes any irritation, making it ideal for my sensitive skin. I did follow up with a water-based cleanser for my usual double cleanse at night, but this product was a welcome addition to my routine. I appreciated the tube packaging, which is more travel-friendly than the usual bulky tubs many cleansing balms come in. The only downside was the scent; despite being unfragranced, some of the natural scents of the ingredients weren’t my favorite, but otherwise, I had no complaints.
Pros:
- Suitable for all skin types
- Effectively removes stubborn makeup
- Hydrating yet lightweight formula
- Sleek packaging
2. Mimétique Skin Revive Serum
This brings us to what I consider a versatile serum. It's worth mentioning that it's the priciest item in the line at £76, but it likely has the ability to replace several serums in your current regimen, making it a good value in my opinion. The concentrated formula combines the SMR-C5 complex with niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, and vitamin C for brightening and nourishing the skin while also regulating sebum production. It checks all the boxes for me, and after using it in my evening routine, my skin appeared virtually radiant.
Pros:
- Filled with skin-loving ingredients
- Can replace multiple serums in your regimen
3. Mimétique Skin Restore Crème Visage
The Skin Restore Crème Visage is one of the brand's best-sellers, and I completely understand why. After trying this moisturizer, I was genuinely impressed. It works to plump, firm, and hydrate the skin, packed with beneficial ingredients like the SMR-C5 complex, hyaluronic acid, squalane, glycine soja, and artemisia abrotanum. My skin looked plump and healthy after application and felt incredibly smooth.
While suitable for all skin types, this moisturizer would particularly benefit those with dry skin. It’s quite lightweight for a richer moisturizer and absorbs quickly, though it may be slightly too heavy for very oily skin types.
Pros:
- Rich in skin-loving ingredients
- Slim packaging
Cons:
- Might be too heavy for oily skin types
4. Mimétique Skin Booster Huile Visage
Finally, let’s talk about the face oil. Not everyone may want to incorporate a face oil into their routine, but if you're considering it, this one is a solid choice. It offers a lightweight texture (as lightweight as an oil can be) and is infused with bakuchiol, an excellent ingredient that improves skin tone and texture while stimulating collagen production.
I found it a bit
