Dakota Johnson donned a fully backless mini dress in a more striking color than black for the Splitsville after-party.
Whenever a red carpet event occurs, it ignites a debate among our team at Who What Wear regarding whether the after-party outfits outshine those from the main event. There’s no definitive answer to which is superior, as this varies with each occasion, but we enjoy selecting a favorite whenever the chance arises. However, in the latest instance, it was a tie, with the team unable to agree on which dress was preferable.
The focus of this discussion is Dakota Johnson, who last night attended the Los Angeles premiere of her new film Splitsville in a strapless silver gown by Gucci. The outfit was further enhanced by the fact that it was entirely made of leather, featuring a sculptural draped corset and a high slit in the back. Had she not changed into another stunning look for the after-party, her metallic dress would have undoubtedly won the evening.
After the premiere, Johnson and the cast and crew of Splitsville left the AMC The Grove 14 theater to celebrate at Delilah in West Hollywood. There, the actress was seen in an entirely different look, also designed by Gucci. This time, she sported a long-sleeve micro-minidress with a completely open back. Rather than opting for a traditional little black dress, her stylist, Kate Young, chose a dark hunter green shade, saving black for her shoes, which were patent leather pumps from the F/W 25 collection.
Johnson's dress was first seen at the F/W 25 show in Milan last February, although the runway version was a maxi length compared to her mini. Both outfits were styled with minimal jewelry and accessories, although the runway model paired Johnson's dress with fur-trimmed slippers instead of pumps. Perhaps she switched into them later after returning from the celebration.
