Singer Irakli Pirtskhalava will take part in the charity sailing regatta "Yachting Without Borders" in Saint Petersburg.

On August 29, the charity regatta "Yachting Without Borders" will take place in the waters of the Gulf of Finland, organized by the Life in Motion Foundation together with the Republic Skipper sea sailing club. The event will bring together sailors, benefactors and the foundation’s wards — children with limb impairments.

The yacht crews will consist of professional sailors and children with limb prostheses, who will serve as full-fledged team members and take part in unique competitions. Joining the foundation’s wards in the regatta will be the foundation’s ambassador, singer Irakli Pirtskhalava, with his son, as well as the foundation’s envoy — yachtsman and multiple participant in World and European Championships Konstantin Vasiliev.

Funds raised during the event will be directed to support the foundation’s activities for the rehabilitation and social adaptation of children. The goal of the "Yachting Without Borders" project, which involves the foundation’s wards with limb amputations, is to make yachting accessible to everyone.

"For many of our wards, this venture into the open water will become a true act of overcoming and a symbol of their abilities. Together with professionals they will cover the water course to show that, thanks to modern prostheses and support, physical limitations are not a barrier to remarkable victories and achievements. Among the foundation’s wards participating in the regatta are Alexandra Gladkova and Rakhman Apaev, who previously also took part in a major round-the-world expedition — a unique project of the Life in Motion Foundation and the Club of Five Oceans," emphasizes the director of the Life in Motion Foundation, Maria Rafalovich.

The regatta will start at the Smolenka Yacht Club on the reclaimed area of Vasilievsky Island. And on August 30, a celebratory breakfast and presentation of commemorative awards to the project’s participants will take place at the Novotel St. Petersburg Centre hotel. As part of the event, the hotel together with the Life in Motion Foundation will present the dessert "Golden Dream," which was created in support of the foundation by the hotel’s pastry chef Tatyana Evdokimova. The Golden Fish is a symbol of hope and the fulfillment of wishes. Tatyana was inspired to create the dessert by a drawing by one of the foundation’s wards.
