New York Fashion Week offers endless inspiration. As the runway shows and presentations conclude in the city, it's time for a recap to examine the trends, on-the-ground insights, and the designers who truly showcased outstanding collections aligned with their visions. Who What Wear's shopping director, Bobby Schuessler, met with senior fashion editor Eliza Huber and senior fashion and social editor Tara Gonzalez to share their thoughts on the spring/summer 2026 shows at New York Fashion Week. Fresh off the Tory Burch show, they discuss the most talked-about moments, their favorite collections, and the trends and styling tips they noted on and off the catwalk.
For highlights from their discussion, read below.
“We wanted to do this in real time. You just came from the Tory Burch show; let's discuss everything.”
Eliza Huber: “Tory is always a major highlight for me. Whenever I receive the invitation each season, it feels like a little thrill because I know I’m going to find something I want to buy. My Tory collection is getting a bit overwhelming! The runway show was at this stunning old bank where I used to shop my first year in New York during the Brooklyn Flea. There was a striking turquoise funnel-neck, knee-length trench coat paired with brown trousers. That's a color combination I used to fear, but now I’m eager to try it. I'm definitely bringing that home.”

“Speaking of trench coats, we've seen plenty this week in various styles: long, cropped, and now you're mentioning knee-length. What’s the trench coat vibe for spring 2026?”
EH: “There are certain pieces that you only need one of, but a trench coat? I think I have 12! At COS, there was a chic little cropped one, almost cape-like, in a mushroomy color. Then there's the classic super-long, double-breasted trench. You can even go for a baggier style reminiscent of The Row. There was a very pretty one like that at Tibi."
Tara Gonzalez: “What was your favorite show this week?”
TG: “For me, a constant highlight is Sandy Liang, which might be predictable, but I just adore her work. We’re both from Queens, which makes me connect with her designs even more. She incorporated fun little patterns featuring an adorable bunny and created this whimsical white lace skirt that resembled a curtain. There were sandals adorned with large oversized buttons, adding a playful touch that felt different for her while still within her signature style.”
“Did another show particularly immerse you in its experience and brand identity?”
EH: “I think Rachel Comey's collection achieves that. The clothes evolve and stay modern, yet the essence of the Rachel Comey girl and her world remains consistent. Many brands chase trends, but Rachel understands her clients and what she enjoys, never deviating from her core.”
TG: “I’d highlight Susan Alexandra and Rachel Antonoff. It was a dog show, so the models wore Rachel Antonoff clothing, were paired with Susan Alexandra bags, and featured dogs up for adoption using Susan Alexandra leashes. The event was such pure joy. It included actors and actresses from SNL and other shows—Dylan O'Brien was there, and Chris Fleming hosted.”

“Were there any collections that caught you off guard?”
EH: “I was eager to see what Rachel Scott would do with Proenza. A long-established brand under consistent leadership presents an unknown when a new face comes in. I believe her inaugural collection beautifully fused her strengths with the brand's established codes. Proenza has a knack for vibrant colors and patterns, presented in a sophisticated and wearable manner. I think she added her twist while maintaining the brand's strong DNA."

“Did you notice one or two key trends throughout the week?”
EH: “The long pendant necklace stands out as a trend that’s nice because it’s evolving while we already wear it. There’s no need to purchase something new every season. It's refreshing to see a trend that transcends across different seasons.”
TG: “First, we saw skirts over pants, and now it seems to be about the apron. [Eckhaus Latta] showcased an amazing outfit with a long pair of pants complemented by a beautiful pale yellow apron tied at the side—a flowing yet distinctly apron style.”

“What has been your standout moment from New York Fashion Week?”
EH: “I have a standout look to mention! It’s this Khaite outfit—simple yet impeccably executed. It featured a
