Adidas's Lace-Up Ballerina Sneakers Have Returned to Stock, and We Can Affirm They Live Up to the Hype.
Recently, I had a disturbing dream where Adidas didn't exist, leading to people dressing in a much less stylish manner and lacking sneaker options. When I woke up, I truly appreciated our current fashion landscape. For example, consider the Taekwondo Mei. These lace-up ballerina sneakers are adorable, and it's clear I’m not alone in my opinion. They’re frequently out of stock, but after several missed restock notifications, I finally managed to buy a pair. I can verify they are just as impressive as I had imagined, and you shouldn't miss out—right now, they are available in a lovely pink shade.
The trend of ballet sneakers has been developing for quite some time, and it's not as fleeting as one might think. If a ballet flat and a slim sneaker had a child, you would find the "sneakerina." It's an eccentric yet surprisingly understated style—the sleek design lends a minimalist vibe, while bold colors or high laces bring some character. The fashion community's fascination with sneakers has surged in recent years (thanks to Adidas!), and with balletcore trending, it was inevitable that this early 2000s sneaker would make a comeback. They began appearing at our favorite stores last summer, and they have now become quite popular.
Launched in the 2000s, Adidas's Taekwondo Mei was crafted for Taekwondo competitors, which is reflected in its name. The shoes feature a beautiful suede finish and are available in several colors, including baby blue, classic ballerina pink, and black. The rubber soles offer more grip compared to ballet flats, and the laces can be elegantly wrapped around the ankles. The best part? They come with a pair of satin ribbon laces (so cute!).
As someone who prefers Adidas's sleek designs, I was surprised by how well these sneakers blended with my wardrobe. I chose the baby blue pair and have paired them with my go-to outfits like jeans and a white t-shirt, as well as sporty shorts and a tank top. I also experimented with them alongside a similarly-colored blue dress, and even with more feminine looks, you wouldn't be able to tell they were sneakers. I appreciate how they enhance every outfit, making them appear more deliberate and stylish. Don’t hesitate to get your hands on a pair.
