This new skincare tool cleared my pores and left my skin looking glass-like after just one use.
Over my ten years as a beauty journalist, I have tested a plethora of facial tools. To be frank, I've become somewhat cynical, as many products tout themselves as the next groundbreaking innovation. While certain devices like LED masks and microcurrent tools do deliver results with regular use, others tend to feel gimmicky and end up collecting dust in a drawer. So, when I learned that Shark, known for their innovative hair tools like the Flexstyle multistyler, was venturing into skincare with a new device, I was intrigued yet doubtful. I got the chance to attend a private preview of the Shark FacialPro Glow + DePuffi (£299) before its official release, and honestly, I haven't felt this excited about a facial tool in ages. This 2-in-1 device serves both as a pore vacuum and a cryotherapy/warming gua sha-inspired tool. Naturally, I had to test it out myself, especially since my clogged pores were eagerly awaiting relief. Now, I can't imagine my skincare routine without it. Read on for my sincere review after trying it out for an entire month.
**Shark FacialPro Glow + DePuffi**
**Pros**
- 2-in-1 pore suction and massage tool
- Effectively unclogs pores (you can see what it's extracted!)
- Hydrates the skin
- Massage tool sculpts skin and can be used warm or cold
**Cons**
- It's a significant investment
- You’ll need to avoid using the pore suction too often
**How Does It Work?**
If you've experienced a Hydrafacial, you can think of this as the at-home version of a decongesting facial. By filling it with water, the device employs a dual-pump system that creates gentle suction to extract clogged pores, dead skin, and excess oil (you can visibly see what's removed in the tank). It can also infuse hydration into the skin. The kit comes with skincare products designed for use with the device, including Derm Detox (applied before exfoliating to help clear clogged pores) and Hydro Infuse, a milky serum that you can pump directly into the device to hydrate your skin post-cleansing.
The kit features four treatment heads: one for larger areas like the cheeks and a narrower tip for precise areas around the T-zone. Additionally, it includes sensitive versions of each nozzle that provide less suction for sensitive skin or delicate areas of the face.
You can easily switch the attachment to the Depuffi tool, a gua sha-inspired massage device that can be used cold for depuffing and sculpting or warmed to massage away tension.
**The Experience**
Using the device is quite straightforward, and the treatment is quick. First, you apply the Derm Detox serum, then fill the clean tank with water and start with the pore suction device. There are three speed/intensity settings to customize your treatment to your skin's needs. It produces gentle suction that helps lift out impurities as you glide it over your face, which are collected in a separate 'gunk tank.' I focused on my chin and lower jawline, where I tend to get congested, and then switched to the narrower nozzle for my nose. My skin tends to flush easily, resulting in redness for a few minutes after use, but it subsided quickly.
After the session, you can check the tank to see what the device extracted. Without being too graphic, I noticed debris and blackheads visible in the tank. It’s quite satisfying to see tangible results, confirming it works! After emptying the tank, you can add the Hydro Infuse serum back into the clean tank and repeat the process. This time, the serum penetrates your skin to provide hydration and plumpness.
For the final step, I switched to the Depuffi attachment and utilized the cooling function to calm my skin after the treatment. It becomes pleasantly cold (similar to Shark’s Cryoglow LED Mask cooling eye patches) and effectively reduces any redness while depuffing and sculpting, particularly around my jaw. The ergonomic shape and large surface area of this tool enable you to cover significant areas, assisting in jawline and cheekbone sculpting.
By the end of the treatment, my skin felt remarkably clean and had a noticeable glow, reminiscent of that glass-like finish you get from a professional facial.
**My Verdict**
As a beauty editor with oily skin susceptible to clogged pores, I really enjoyed using this device. I tend to pick at my skin, which often leads to scarring when I try to extract blackheads or clogged pores myself (to any facialists or dermatologists who may read this: my apologies!). This device has effectively helped me break the cycle while still addressing most of the congestion in my skin. It won’t work on closed comedones or cystic acne, but it does help remove any buildup that could lead to future breakouts
