"Heroes of a Great Country": an exhibition in Moscow has opened in memory of the Great Victory.
From October 9 to November 30, the Multimedia Space Bolshaya Strana is hosting the exhibition "Heroes of Bolshaya Strana: Memory of the Great Victory." This is a large-scale cultural project that brings together painting, history, cinema and the memory of generations.
Earlier, the space launched impressive projects, including the exhibition "Bolshaya Strana: Secrets of Kamchatka." Numerous visitors took an interactive journey through the Kamchatka Territory, where they encountered majestic volcanic landscapes, delved into the history of the region’s discovery and heard the mesmerizing sounds of the disappearing languages of the indigenous peoples.
The 1,000-square-meter Multimedia Space Bolshaya Strana opened in November 2024 and has already been visited by 45,000 guests. The project includes eight themed halls that reveal the full beauty and diversity of Russia using modern audiovisual technologies. The sound design recreates the atmosphere of ancient legends and folklore, bringing scenes of nature to life: the murmur of Baikal’s waters, the roar of Elbrus’s wind and the magic of Kamchatka’s geysers.
In addition to viewing the exhibition, visitors can participate in master classes where, with the help of AI, adults and children create their own sticker pack of six stickers, learn the meanings of runes, choose symbols and apply them to a keychain and a magnet — a finished amulet to take home.
"Heroes of Bolshaya Strana: Memory of the Great Victory"
From October 9 to November 30, visitors will see a new exposition featuring works by 20 artists from 19 regions of Russia. Each portrait is more than just a canvas; it is a living story of a war hero, embodied with gratitude and respect by contemporary artists. Visitors will be able to feel how art returns one to the feat, allowing a new understanding of the strength of spirit and the significance of the Victory, which turned 80 in 2025.
"The project has become a bridge between generations. This is not just an exhibition — it is a way to preserve and pass on memory. Through images, cinema and a dialogue among Russia’s regions, we create a shared space of empathy and gratitude," says Maria Aizina, head of the space.
The Kuril landing: a forgotten chapter of the war
One of the central sections of the exhibition is a multimedia account of the Kuril landing operation — the last battle of the Second World War. The section was prepared with the support of the Government of the Kamchatka Krai and will remind visitors that Victory was forged in every corner of the country.
The exhibition is supplemented by daily film screenings:
11:00 — feature film "Sestrenka";
17:00 — feature film "The Dawns Here Are Quiet...", episode 1, with translation into Russian sign language (in partnership with the Presidential Grants Foundation, the Okko online cinema and the Russian State Film Fund);
18:30 — feature film "The Dawns Here Are Quiet...", episode 2.
Cinema in the context of the exhibition becomes an instrument of memory, where the viewer not only watches but empathizes, immerses and feels.
Artists and the geography of the exhibition
Participants include artists from Yakutia, Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Dagestan, Sakhalin, Saint Petersburg, Tatarstan, Kamchatka, Vologda, the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories, Krasnodar Krai, the Jewish Autonomous Region, Magadan, Kirov Region and other regions.
The exhibition demonstrates how vast and united the country is when it speaks of Victory not in numbers, but in the living voices of the descendants of heroes.
Who is behind the project
The initiators of the project "Heroes of Bolshaya Strana: Memory of the Great Victory" are: Maria Aizina — social entrepreneur; Sergey Butorin — member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, laureate of the national award "Russia — Land of Opportunity"; Mira Argunova — painter, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, laureate of the national award "People Change the Country"; Alexandra Starostina — social architect, musician, excellence in culture of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
This is not just an exhibition. It is a meeting with the past that gives us strength in the present. It is gratitude and memory that we pass on to our children. It is the united voice of Russia.
