Brittany Snow is regaining her strength with each project and red carpet appearance.

Brittany Snow might not have anticipated the tremendous success of The Hunting Wives, but she generally has a gut feeling about opportunities. Her instincts for selecting projects are rarely wrong. The evidence lies in her body of work, which includes a collection of influential cinematic experiences that resonate across generations—such as the early 2000s teen comedy John Tucker Must Die, the socially insightful musical Hairspray, the exceptional Pitch Perfect series with two sequels (and hopefully a third?), and the cult horror film X from Ti West. Over the past twenty years, Snow has given life to some of our favorite characters on screen, but what's even more remarkable is her continual ability to reinvent herself and her career. The Hunting Wives marked just the start of what is shaping up to be a remarkable year for Snow, who is now appearing in Hulu's true crime drama Murdaugh: Death in the Family and will soon return to Netflix with the dark psychological thriller The Beast in Me. With an array of projects lined up, the actress is establishing herself as a powerful presence in Hollywood. You might say it’s a Snow renaissance in 2025. The actress is making bold strides both in her career and fashion-wise (her Barbie pink Wiederhoeft gown at the Emmys and custom Lein dress with pearls are recent standouts), as she challenges norms and embraces her power. Just as others follow a trend, Snow forges her own path, and it's proving successful. Amid the exciting whirlwind of recent months, we sat down with Snow, clad in a stylish, vintage Jil Sander suit, for our Portrait Sessions series to discuss overcoming personal barriers, true crime podcasts, acting alongside her idol Claire Danes, and approaching the present with clarity and mindfulness.

What a remarkable few months you’ve had! With The Hunting Wives, then Murdaugh: Death in the Family, and now The Beast in Me, how does it feel to have all these fantastic projects releasing in quick succession? It’s amusing because we didn't film them as closely together as it might seem. They were more spaced out over the last year and a half, but they are all coming out around the same time, which feels a bit surreal. I'm incredibly grateful. There was a time in my life when I questioned if I would ever act again, and I felt I might have been a bit of an obstacle to myself. I was stuck in my head and overly analytical about it, but once I let that go, it felt like a door opened for me to continue working. Now, I’m able to participate in these exciting projects, and I'm truly humbled.

Let’s discuss The Beast in Me. I finished it in just two sittings because it was so captivating. I imagine reading the script felt just as engaging for you. What drew you to this story and the character Nina? The Beast in Me was an intriguing and unique project because only one or two scripts were available initially, offering a glimpse into how the story might evolve. I knew it was from the team behind Homeland, which is my all-time favorite show. Claire Danes is among my favorite actresses, and I've watched every episode of Homeland. Growing up, she was an idol to me, so I was eager to collaborate with her, along with Matthew [Rhys], whom I admired from The Americans. Everything seemed perfectly aligned for my involvement in this project.

When I auditioned, I had limited material: just the character description and one episode to read, which features my character only minimally. What people might not realize, but we're being transparent about, is that the scripts were being developed and written as we were shooting. It wasn't like The Hunting Wives, where we had all eight scripts ready beforehand. They were drafting scenes as we filmed.

Tell me about your experience on set with your idol Claire Danes. The night before, I recall feeling incredibly nervous yet excited, but I had heard from others that she was genuine and friendly. Our first scene was a "walking in the park" moment, and she was so present, curious, and authentic, wanting to connect with me immediately. It was heartwarming to discover that an actress I admired was equally invested in me. My respect for her deepened even more as I saw her true character. She instantly helped calm my nerves, which was invaluable as I entered a project I held in such high regard.

Now, let's shift to your other current project, Murdaugh: Death in the Family. It revolves around the real Murdaugh family murders and is based on the reporting of Mandy Matney, whom you portray. Since Matney is a producer on the show, I imagine you connected with her closely. What stood out to you about her involvement in the case? Before I joined the show, I was already quite familiar with the case and Matney's work as I had listened to her podcast. I admired her scrappy journalism style, and her relentless determination was essential
