10 Who What Wear Editors, 64 Spring Purchases—Exploring Our Seasonal Mood Boards
As editors, we consistently observe the latest runway shows, red carpet events, celebrity appearances, our social media feeds, and the TV and movie content we consume to gauge current fashion trends and what's emerging. This helps us keep you informed, but it also results in a valuable collection of style inspiration that influences our own wardrobes. This may involve screenshotting the latest Saint Laurent runway to experiment with the menswear-tie trend ourselves, or it could mean pinning timeless archival images of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn to our Pinterest boards. I reached out to the fashion editors at Who What Wear to share their spring mood boards and insights on their style directions for 2025. Not surprisingly, they provided a wealth of information. If you're interested in the references that will shape how we dress and shop this season, or if you're simply seeking some excellent inspiration, look no further. Below, you'll find all the runway, editorial, and shopping influences guiding them, along with their key shopping items for spring '25.
Instead of chasing the latest trends, I’m opting for a more personal approach to dressing this spring. Over the past few seasons, I've felt fatigued by the pressure to keep up with one trend after another, a challenge that comes with being a fashion editor. Despite my best efforts, I’ve found myself drifting away from my personal style, so I’m on a mission to reconnect with what truly reflects who I am. This means focusing on pieces that evoke an emotional and intuitive connection, rather than simply adhering to what is logically considered trendy. Heart over head, right? I’ve always felt most like myself in sleek, tailored outfits, often gravitating back to an all-black ensemble. This season, I plan to focus on retro styles such as cigarette trousers and peplum hems, along with artistic touches like resin and tassel jewelry that add a personal flair. One favorite of mine recently has been Simone Bellotti’s collections for Bally, particularly a look from the F/W 2024 collection showcasing a two-tone silk blazer paired with cigarette trousers and thong sandals. I also admire images of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis on vacation with the Kennedys in the '60s, especially her simple yet elegant combinations of cropped trousers and T-shirts; I’m on the hunt for a pair of her signature oversized sunglasses on The RealReal.

"I find myself revisiting images I've saved on my mood boards over the years. Some of them resonate especially powerfully right now, while more recent inspirations still connect to older references. Michael Kors' final Celine collection for fall/winter 2004 has left a significant impression on me; its classic feel merges the sporty American style of Bessette-Kennedy with the European elegance of Audrey Hepburn, reflecting what I want to wear now and mirroring the crossover of '90s and '50s style trends resurging in fashion today." This manifests in my wardrobe as a mix of Wayfarer sunglasses and cashmere knits paired with pencil skirts and slingback heels. Ralph Lauren’s F/W 04 collection also serves as a great reference for classic American sportswear—I'm planning to recreate a head-to-toe camel look from that collection. I’m increasingly drawn to soft pastels and romantic items, such as a delicate slip skirt peeking out under a coat. A scoop-neck bouclé jacket from Liberowe puts a modern twist on a classic piece, while a Cartier Tank watch and tennis bracelet create the perfect wrist stack. While I continue to draw inspiration from the latest fashion trends, I am increasingly focused on how to tie those influences back to my foundational personal style.

"Each year, my overarching goal with dressing remains consistent. I aim to keep it classic and timeless while maintaining a contemporary edge that won't feel outdated. Although my intentions stay the same, the specific pieces I require to achieve this look and my ability to procure them vary. Hopefully, I’m improving and making smarter investments each season in items that will become wardrobe staples for years to come. This spring and summer, that means seeking the perfect outerwear to complete my outfits, investing in refined versions of warm-weather essentials like shorts and sandals, and ensuring that my style remains fun without straying too far from my personal aesthetic—like the outfit above!"
