      As someone from the East Coast, I've really embraced bikini minimalism and currently own just two: one black and one red. Recently, I spoke with two Floridians about their experiences growing up with access to beaches all year round. Naturally, I asked, “How many swimsuits do you have?” They both looked at me as if I had asked an utterly bizarre question. "Too many to count," one replied. "Drawers and drawers full," said the other. I jokingly (yet sincerely) responded, "I actually only have two bikinis." They were taken aback.

      I can’t entirely attribute my lack of swimwear to my New England roots, as many people still enjoy summers "down the Cape," in Martha’s Vineyard, or Maine. Even now, living in New York, I always start the summer with the intention of going to the beach every weekend but usually abandon that plan after making two trips to Jacob Riis.

      However, this year, for the first time (albeit quite late), I've resolved to stop idealizing swimwear collections and actually begin creating my own. Here’s everything I've added to my cart so far, along with some additional finds from my search.
