All the Trends That Are Worth Discussing (and Sporting) This Summer

      With summer in full swing, we can confidently identify which trends are relevant this season (and which are not). We made our forecasts back in September 2024, when the spring/summer 2025 collections launched in fashion hubs like New York, Milan, London, and Paris, but only time would reveal which trends would endure as summer arrived. Now that it's here, we’re excited to highlight the standout styles of the current fashion season. Ahead, discover which color is outshining even butter yellow right now, the jewelry trend that's taking precedence over oversized cuff bracelets and '80s-inspired earrings, as well as the controversial pieces currently stirring discussions (and purchases) in 2025.       Whether it's shorts, skirts, pants, dresses, or tops, it doesn’t matter. If it has lace trim, it's likely trending this summer. Brands like The Row, Rohé, and Saint Laurent have embraced this style, as have celebrities and content creators like Jennifer Lawrence. Match your knee-length lace-trim skirts with knee-high boots, lingerie-style lace-trim shorts with a leather blazer or bomber, and lace-trim slip dresses with flip-flops.

      Flip-flops are everywhere this summer, and not just at the pool or beach. Once deemed inappropriate for city streets, thong sandals have shed that stigma, largely due to fashion enthusiasts who pair them with trousers, knee-length skirts, and sundresses instead of just swimwear. Choose classic Havianas or opt for The Row’s trendy rubber Dune sandals.

      This summer leans towards a bohemian vibe, with airy genie pants, crochet tops, bubble shorts, and micro florals all making a comeback simultaneously. There’s also a resurgence of long necklaces, oversized sunglasses, flare jeans, and ponchos in the fashion scene. Coincidence? We think not.

      Despite what others may believe, few could have anticipated the significant rise in popularity of culottes in 2025. While Bermuda shorts have been expected, long, A-line shorts (or cropped, A-line pants) were not projected to become a trend. However, following their appearance at COS's spring/summer 2025 show in Athens and later on Hailey Bieber during a shopping trip in Tribeca, these controversial bottoms have gained traction among fashion enthusiasts for warm weather.

      This summer, the trend leans towards "lazy dressing," but that doesn’t mean looking and feeling luxurious is out of the question. On the runways at Max Mara and Kallmeyer, for instance, models showcased easy, effortless outfits like a loose button-down shirt over a bikini paired with a column skirt, and an oversized cotton sweater with flats and a bias-cut slip skirt. It exudes richness and glamour while requiring minimal effort to assemble.

      Hailey Bieber has declared a shift: the era of butter yellow is over, making way for a new shade of yellow. She refers to it as limoncello, and it’s gaining traction. This color was prominently featured at Bieber's latest Rhode event at a beach club in Mallorca, worn by her and her guests, and was also seen on the runways at Chanel's spring/summer 2025 haute couture show, among others.

      Say goodbye to chokers; a new necklace trend is here, and it’s captivating everyone this summer. Long necklaces have risen to prominence, showcasing a variety of pendants like shells, tassels, and stones. Many brands are drawing inspiration from designs by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co., while others adopt a more beach-oriented approach.
