From Sofwave to Salmon Sperm: All the Pre-Wedding Skin Treatments to Be Aware of in 2025
As a bride preparing for 2025, I want to point out the obvious: organizing a wedding can feel overwhelmingly stressful. There are countless decisions to make, vendor arrangements to coordinate, and sensitive family dynamics to navigate, all while aiming to present an effortlessly elegant appearance on the big day—it's a lot to handle. I completely get the frustration of wanting to throw your phone across the room upon seeing a comprehensive guide of beauty treatments you “should” undergo before your wedding. It can be overwhelming, even for someone in the beauty industry, which is why I focused on narrowing down the most worthwhile options for the year. I dedicated weeks to discussing with trusted dermatologists and facialists, consulting with fellow brides, and filtering through their suggestions to identify the best treatments for different skin concerns. (I have a solid 16 pages of notes.) The list that follows, while thorough, is crafted to be the most straightforward, current guide available—I assure you of that.
To clarify, I’m not suggesting that you should book every treatment available, and you don’t have to book any at all if you’d rather not! Forget the pressure of needing to appear "perfect." But it would be disingenuous of me to say that I don’t want my skin to look its best—still me, but with a smooth, sculpted, radiant glow—and if I can make your planning process a bit easier, then I consider that a success. Below, you’ll find the most talked-about and effective skincare investments for 2025, ranging from noninvasive contouring options to glass-skin enhancers and texture-smoothing lasers with no downtime.
Celebrity aesthetician Sofie Pavitt emphasizes that when it comes to "wedding-ready" skin, texture is more important than pigment. "Most brides tend to wear more makeup than usual for photos, so any pigmentation is usually concealed," she explains. "If your skin appears dull and fatigued or has a rough texture from acne, that's what will show up in pictures, whereas a little dark spot or post-inflammatory redness can generally be smoothed over with concealer." This isn’t to say that you should ignore any discoloration that bothers you (more on that soon!), but if texture is a concern, it’s wise to prioritize treating that first with the options below.
**BBL Facial**
Starting off with the laser treatments, we have BBL, which stands for broadband light. It’s a more advanced version of IPL (intense pulse light), commonly used for discoloration and hair removal, but with added skin-rejuvenation benefits. It not only helps diminish dark spots but also assists with acne and overall skin tightening. "This treatment can make skin appear exceptionally clear and glassy in terms of acne, redness, rosacea, and pigmentation," says master aesthetician Brittany Blancato. A BBL facial is truly a versatile treatment for multiple skin issues, particularly due to its effectiveness for acne.
**Clear + Brilliant**
Another laser option is Clear + Brilliant, which is a fractional laser targeting skin texture issues such as acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and pore size. "Clear + Brilliant lasers have always been well-received, and their popularity is increasing," shares board-certified dermatologist Michelle Henry, MD, FAAD. The appeal? It's a non-ablative laser that heats the deeper layers of skin without harming the surface. "Since it's very gentle, it's safe for individuals with darker skin tones too," adds board-certified dermatologist David Kim, MD. Just keep in mind that you may experience some inflammation afterward, so he advises scheduling treatments at least one month apart.
**TCA Peel**
For those who prefer to avoid lasers, experts recommend mild to moderate chemical peels for skin resurfacing. TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid peels) are popular because they come in various concentrations, making them easily adjustable. Some very mild versions can entail minimal or even no downtime (like redness or peeling). "They're excellent for all skin types, so that's a significant plus," states celebrity aesthetician Georgia Louise.
**PRP**
"For wedding prep this year—and really across the board—I’ve noticed a significant rise in treatments that emphasize regeneration and healing," explains board-certified dermatologist Shereene Idriss, MD, founder of Dr. Idriss skincare. One popular option is PRP (platelet-rich plasma), which utilizes your body's growth factors to improve skin texture and tone. Blancato elaborates: "We draw your blood and place it in a centrifuge. It spins rapidly, separating the liquid 'gold' that floats to the top from the red platelets that settle at the bottom. We extract this 'gold' and apply it topically." This liquid then activates collagen production and addresses various concerns, from scarring to hyperpigmentation to overall skin regeneration. "It’s like giving your skin its own pep talk," Idriss notes. The only catch is that you must
