My fashion-savvy friends suggested I try these five refined essentials, and they've now become true staples in my wardrobe.
As an editor at Who What Wear, I compile several shopping lists each week (hello!). I take pride in discovering unique items that can enhance your wardrobe. While I love making recommendations, I'm also on the lookout for suggestions as I build my own collection. Speaking of which, five pieces currently in my rotation were recommended by various fashionable friends. And yes, I'm excited to share them with you for some inspiration. These items fit into the elevated-basics category because they're versatile (I wear them often with a variety of outfits) and effortlessly stylish. To give you a sneak peek, one is a blazer celebrated for its perfect fit and comfort. There's also a denim brand that's a consistent favorite among fashion enthusiasts, which I only tried recently. Keep reading for all the details and shopping inspiration.
**Anine Bing Blazer**
I have been a long-time admirer of Anine Bing for her modern yet timeless silhouettes. I’ve loved her sweatshirts and shirts, but I recently decided to try her blazers after seeing a friend in one (which was perfectly oversized), and now I’m hooked. I’ve been wearing two styles: the Quinn, which comes in various colors and fabrics, but the steel-blue shade is my go-to for pairing with everything from trousers to jeans. The Sara style (an excellent oversized option) in cream and black stripes is another standout. The fit is impeccable, adding an elegant and sophisticated touch to whatever I wear. Although these blazers are investment pieces, they will remain wardrobe staples for years to come—at least in my closet.
**Agolde and Citizens of Humanity Jeans and Shorts**
I recently expressed my love for Agolde jeans. Every fashion editor on our team has a style from this brand, so I finally decided to give them a try. The '90s and Fusion styles are now mainstays in my wardrobe. I also recently tried Agolde denim shorts and a pair from Citizens of Humanity (my favorite drawstring denim trend). Both options are stylish and comfy. I think I’ve worn the drawstring shorts about four times a week in recent weeks.

**J.Crew Oversize Shirt**
With Olympia Gayot leading the design, J.Crew has remained a reliable choice among stylish individuals—myself included. A colleague mentioned her affection for the oversized Étienne shirt, so I purchased one on sale last year in a blue striped version. My decision was confirmed when I visited a designer boutique and the sales associate asked which designer my shirt was from. I replied, "Oh, thanks, it’s J.Crew." Since then, I’ve ordered several variations (including some I had monogrammed). My current favorite is a trendy yellow style.

**Banana Republic Cashmere**
I know it’s warm outside right now, but I’m still discussing sweaters to inspire your upcoming fall wardrobe or for cooler evenings or if you just want a knit to throw over your shoulders. Specifically, I’m referring to Banana Republic sweaters. My colleague Eliza mentioned that their cashmere is incredibly soft and feels much more expensive than it is. Naturally, I tried the sweaters and agreed with her. Although the cashmere is priced over $100 (not exactly cheap), the quality gives it a designer vibe, and the sweaters are durable. I wore a black knit all winter, and it remained in great shape. Similarly to my favorite yellow shirt mentioned above, I’ve been wearing a yellow sweater on cooler nights. The short-sleeved knits are also worth noting.

**Vince Polo**
I’m a huge fan of Vince for beautifully elevated basics that endure over time. The construction and quality are remarkable. Lately, I’ve been particularly drawn to their polo shirts this season. The preppy vibe is definitely in. The knit polo showcased above is a staple for effortless yet polished outfits. There are also various other polo designs available, featuring ribbed patterns and stylish button details.
