As a Fashion Dad, I recently took a short trip to Montauk with Nanit—here's what I wore and what I experienced.
I proudly identify as a fashion dad. Working in the fashion industry and having a passion for clothing, I also enjoy discovering stylish new items for my 20-month-old daughter, who means the world to me. With that in mind, I have compiled a list of essential baby products that I frequently recommend to new parents, as they have become staples in my parenting journey. Yes, some of these items are from Nanit, a baby monitor brand that has garnered a dedicated following for its outstanding video quality (the night vision is remarkable—clear enough for me to see my daughter's eyes) and user-friendly app, which tracks sleep patterns and sends alerts for movement and noise. It has truly provided us with peace of mind as parents, so you can imagine my delight when I had the chance to visit Montauk with Nanit to unwind and experience their latest offerings.
At Gurney's Montauk Resort, Nanit transformed the deck into the Nap Deck to recharge and showcase Nanit's upcoming innovation, NextNap, set to launch later this year. Nanit supports my family every day, and this new feature is a significant breakthrough, allowing us to anticipate nap times using sleep data and AI. It calculates your baby's wake windows, helping you know when both you and your baby need some rest. "Parents deserve tools that ease the mental load," stated Anushka Salinas, CEO of Nanit. "NextNap addresses one of the major stressors—nap timing—and simplifies it." Furthermore, there are other exciting features launching later this year. "NextNap is just the start. We're aiming to create a future where AI not only forecasts naps but also aids families in making proactive choices for their child's overall well-being," Salinas noted.
Amid experiencing Nanit's latest innovations, I also explored Montauk, Amagansett, and the resort, all new to me. This included shopping for both myself and my child, enjoying delicious meals (including the lobster pasta at The Crow's Nest), and relaxing by the water. Naturally, I packed a few effortless and coastal-chic outfits for my adventures, and I’ll share those below to inspire your late summer travel vibes. Continue scrolling to see the outfits I wore in Montauk, along with additional trip insights and shopping suggestions, including must-have items from Nanit.
**What I Wore in Montauk**
For a day spent on the Nanit Nap Deck and dinner at The Crow's Nest in Montauk, I chose one of my go-to outfits: the J.Crew Étienne Oversize Shirt paired with relaxed white jeans and flip-flops. It’s one of my summer staples for a look that’s both simple and elevated.
I explored Amagansett in a monochromatic ensemble featuring a relaxed white tee tucked into white jeans, complemented by contrasting black accessories and shoes. I also discovered some adorable items for my daughter at Pink Chicken, including cute flat Mary Janes from Childrenchic.
Dinner at Gurney's was in a butter-yellow knit polo from Vince that I’ve been frequently wearing.
Here’s another summer outfit shot at the resort: a white tee with loose jeans and flip-flops. The playful bucket hat and striped knit draped over my shoulders complete the look.
