I traveled to Jamaica for my birthday—here’s a list of everything I brought, including sunscreen and slips.
I recently returned from a vacation in the Caribbean, specifically Jamaica, where I stayed at Idle Awhile in Negril. I spent the majority of my week-long birthday trip just the way I wanted: at Seven Mile Beach. When I wasn't soaking up the sun or floating in the warmest ocean I've ever experienced, I was dining out at places like Ivan's and Flag City Seafood & Grill. There’s also a vendor who strolls along the beach selling patties, which quickly became my favorite lunch. I began referring to it as "P&P time"—short for Pepsi and patties (particularly the beef ones).
For my birthday dinner, I dined at the cliffside Rockhouse Restaurant at Rockhouse Hotel, a boutique hotel designed by two architects who previously worked with Frank Lloyd Wright. Situated above Pristine Cove, it offers breathtaking sunsets and endless views of the horizon. I can't recommend it highly enough.
As for clothing, true to form, I overpacked (21 swimsuits!), but, as usual, ended up wearing just a few favorites repeatedly. The standout "most-worn item" was the 90's Bias Skirt by Charlie Beads, which I couldn't stop reaching for. Keep scrolling to see what I packed, spanning from sunscreen to slips.
