6 Stylish Trends From London Fashion Week You Can Expect to See Everywhere—As Recommended by an Expert
As we near the conclusion of September, we also wrap up another remarkable London Fashion Week. With an array of fresh designers participating and a new CEO at the British Fashion Council—none other than Laura Weir—we anticipated an exciting spring/summer 2025 showcase, and it certainly delivered. The team from Who What Wear UK was fully engaged, capturing and showcasing the finest street style looks, all thanks to Volvo, which transported us around London to every show, presentation, and appointment.
In recent years, London’s standing as a fashion hub has faced some challenges, with several prominent British designers, including Alexander McQueen and Victoria Beckham, opting to present in other cities. Nevertheless, London has continued to thrive, maintaining its reputation as a city of innovation and bold ideas, championing cutting-edge and cult designers. Consequently, the trends emerging year after year are worth observing. Prominent names like Simone Rocha, Roksanda, Erdem, Dilara Findikoglu, and Richard Quinn showcased themes of romance, fantasy, and the celebration of femininity in diverse styles. Rocha, a highly anticipated show, presented her signature Victorian-inspired dresses and tailored pieces, featuring exaggerated waistlines in floral chiffon and satin, alongside unexpected materials like PVC and sequins. Erdem also took surprising turns with heavily embroidered pieces, from mini dresses to trench coats, and introduced vibrant citrus and fuchsia pink color palettes, eliciting gasps from the audience.
However, it wasn’t just about babydoll dresses, crinoline skirts, and pastel pinks (though there were plenty of those!). Designers such as Chopova Lowena, Dilara Findikoglu, and Ashley Williams, beloved on the London Fashion Week agenda, exhibited a more punk vibe. Chopova Lowena and Williams drew from early 2000s influences, infusing energy and vibrancy reminiscent of a fashion week party atmosphere. Turkish designer Dilara Findikoglu delivered a show that has become a highlight, with tickets for fashion commentator Lyas's nearby 'watch party' selling out almost instantly. A lineup of models including Naomi Campbell, Amelia Grey, Tish Weinstock, and Harley Weir embodied gothic glamour with lace, latex, corsetry, chainmail, and even a horsebit buckle headpiece.
Of course, mentioning London would be incomplete without Burberry. Following their now-iconic campaign inspired by Glastonbury and British festival culture—featuring Goldie, Liam Gallagher, and Alexa Chung in parkas and plaid wellington boots enjoying the great outdoors—we anticipated a festival-themed collection for the upcoming spring. Creative director Daniel Lee delivered parka jackets, fringe, and crochet mini party dresses, alongside playful nods to Burberry’s heritage, including a trench coat reimagined in plaid.
And this is merely a summary! If you’re curious about which standout moments were unmissable and the trends expected to take center stage next year, I have compiled a list of six trends to keep an eye on for spring/summer 2025.
1. WHAT THE PUFF?
Style Notes: We first spotted puffball mini skirts on the opening morning of LFW at Mithridate. While discussions swirled around creative director Daniel Fletcher’s true preppy style (which our SEO writer Ava Gilchrist likened to the TV show Rivals), our chat was filled with clips of the pink polka dot puffball mini skirt. We quickly recognized similar gathered circular designs at Harris Reed the previous evening, speculating on a recurring theme for the weekend. This silhouette also strutted out at Keburia, showcasing short, voluminous styles made of layered tulle. Keburia, along with Erdem, Simone Rocha, and Yuhan Wang, presented at least one crinoline skirt, featuring a 19th-century-inspired structure layered with lightweight fabrics like lace or sheer floral chiffon. The message is clear: for hips, the bigger the better this spring.
Brands to Remember: Simone Rocha, Keburia, Erdem, Mithridate, Harris Reed, Yuhan Wang, Toga. Key Takeaway: Crinoline skirts of various lengths, puff mini skirts in lively pastel hues.
2. FRINGE FANCY
Style Notes: To put it plainly: if there was one prominent detail this season, it was fringe! While the previous year showcased fringe in a more classic style—primarily on tan suede jackets reflective of the Western trend—this season, it appeared in less expected forms. Roksanda featured thick fringe on multiple looks, hanging seemingly at random from blazers as well as along dress hems. Fringe belts made an appearance at Conner Ives in bright colors and at Di Petsa in a string-like fashion, with Dilara Findikoglu presenting a suitably studded and chainmail version. Nanushka showcased fringe on its striped Bermuda shorts and polo shirt dress, complete with long beaded details on a belt. Fringe also highlighted Burberry’s
