As a Men's Stylist, here are the five essential fall pieces I'm genuinely looking to buy.
The tans were spectacular. The rosé was delightful. The Instagram dump? Completely impeccable. Summer '25 was memorable, but as temperatures drop and leaves begin to change, it's time to shift focus to fashion's beloved season: fall. If you enjoy wearing clothes (hello, friend!), it should be your favorite season as well. For me, summer is about adventure and trying new things (think quirky sunglasses and patterns I'd never wear back home), while fall emphasizes returning to the basics. This means investing in wardrobe staples that are timeless and will serve as the foundation of my closet—not just for this season, but for many seasons to come.
A Long Coat
When it comes to coats, if it's not below the knee, it's not for us. If it reaches your ankles, that's even better! My tip? Opt for at least one size up (and sometimes two!) to make your outerwear feel more luxurious. Yes, a beautiful coat comes with a higher price tag, but a wise friend once told me that in New York City, your coat is equivalent to your car. If it keeps you warm, stylish, and serves as your main mode of transportation, it's worth the investment.

Heavyweight Pants
Let's leave the linen behind in August. This season, I’m craving substantial pants with a relaxed fit. Think wide-wale corduroy, comfortable tailored wool trousers, and sturdy chinos, all in rich, earthy tones. The idea is to pair them with a basic tee and the investment coat mentioned earlier in September, and then start layering with essential knitwear (more on that later) as we delve deeper into fall.

A Better Bag
No offense to your canvas tote, but nothing enhances the work commute quite like carrying a stunning bag. That's why you should indulge in something that feels special. Since you'll be using it daily, the cost-per-wear quickly balances out. When searching for a bag, my criteria are straightforward: spacious enough for a laptop, no flashy branding, and a neutral color that I can envision using today and a decade from now.

The Perfect Black Boots
Each year when fall arrives, I find myself examining my shoe collection as though waking from a coma. Who are you all, and how did you get here? This season, the only familiar sight is my black boots—a category so straightforward yet achieving the ideal pair is a lifelong journey. This year, I'm passing on lace-up and Chelsea styles in pursuit of the ultimate zip boots.

No-Nonsense Knitwear
I like to consider myself a bit of a sweater expert. I own at least 40 different knits, and throughout my life, I've proudly worn everything from an argyle turtleneck to a Lurex leopard-print cardigan. (No, I won't share pictures.) Having gained experience, my goal now is to find the perfect versions of each of my favorite sweaters. This fall, I'm focusing on two main styles: high-V-neck sweaters (emphasizing high—no plunging Vs, please) and chunky, ribbed-collar knits that satisfy my desire for The Row aesthetic without the hefty price tag.
