How Miuccia Prada Suggests Wearing a Scarf in 2025
Whenever a new collection by Prada or Miu Miu is showcased, there is one particular segment of the show that consistently stands out as my favorite, and it may not be what you expect. As an ardent supporter of Miuccia Prada, I admire the designer's creations and the universe she constructs around them, encompassing everything from the set design to the guest list and the music. However, it is the outfits revealed at the conclusion of each show that take precedence for me each season. Chic, sophisticated, and effortless, Prada's outfits are always a crowd pleaser, and for her two spring/summer 2026 presentations in Milan (Prada) and Paris (Miu Miu), she sported different iterations of the same piece, immediately signaling an upcoming trend to me. The item in question was a scarf—more specifically, a fichu, an 18th-century triangular shawl intended to be wrapped and tied around the shoulders. At Prada's show earlier this season, the designer emerged from backstage alongside her co-creative director, Raf Simons, wearing a simple white shirtdress that fell just below the knee, paired with equally understated black pumps. The highlight of her outfit? An orange satin fichu adorned with rhinestones, reminiscent of the jeweled details featured in pieces from the S/S 26 Prada collection. She wore it tied around her chest, adding flair and intrigue to her otherwise minimalistic show-day look.
In a post following the show, the Instagram account @whatmiuccia, which focuses on Prada's outfits, shared a video of the designer from her spring/summer 2021 show, again donning the same fichu. According to the video's caption, this piece is a "variation of FW 2004 elements."
When the designer addressed her audience once more after revealing her latest Miu Miu collection during Paris Fashion Week, attendees quickly recognized the resemblance to her Prada show outfit. The colors were different, of course, but both outfits featured a simple, knee-length dress (this time, a taffeta style with three-quarter sleeves and a crewneck in mushroom brown) and a colorful, embellished fichu (in vibrant turquoise with a champagne satin lining). She completed the look with drop earrings, several stacked bangles, and black Prada pumps.
It’s safe to say that following fashion month, anyone with good taste will be taking cues from Prada and investing in oversized scarves, stoles, shawls, and fichus to embody her style this fall. Explore the emerging trend below.
