The Miuccia Prada Method of Styling a Scarf in 2025
Whenever a new collection from Prada or Miu Miu is revealed, there’s always one specific aspect of the show that stands out as my favorite, and it might not be what you expect. As a devoted admirer of Miuccia Prada, I appreciate her designs and the universe she creates around them, from the setting to the guest list and the music. However, it’s the outfits presented at the conclusion of each show that I eagerly anticipate each season. Chic, elegant, and seemingly effortless, Prada's ensembles consistently resonate with fans, and during her two spring/summer 2026 showcases in Milan (Prada) and Paris (Miu Miu), she donned variations of the same item, which immediately signaled an upcoming trend.
The item in question was a scarf - specifically a fichu, an 18th-century triangular shawl meant to be wrapped and tied around the shoulders. At Prada's show earlier this season, the designer emerged from backstage alongside her co-creative director, Raf Simons, dressed in a simple white shirtdress that fell just below the knee, paired with unembellished black pumps. The highlight of her outfit? An orange satin fichu adorned with rhinestone details reminiscent of the embellished pieces in the S/S 26 Prada collection. She wore it tied around her torso, adding an element of interest to the otherwise minimalist show-day look.
Following the show, the Instagram account @whatmiuccia, which focuses on Prada's outfits, shared a video of the designer from her spring/summer 2021 show featuring the same fichu. The caption indicated that this piece is a "variation of FW 2004 elements."
When Prada greeted her audience again after presenting her latest Miu Miu collection during Paris Fashion Week, viewers quickly noticed a resemblance to her ensemble from the Prada show. Although the colors differed, both outfits featured a simple, knee-length dress (this time, a three-quarter-sleeve taffeta design with a crewneck in a mushroom brown) and a vibrant, embellished fichu (in a deep turquoise with a champagne satin lining). She completed the look with drop earrings, several stacked bangles, and black Prada pumps.
It’s safe to say that following fashion month, anyone with a good sense of style will be inspired by Prada's direction and will invest in a selection of oversized scarves, stoles, shawls, and fichus to embody her essence this fall. Explore the emerging trend below.
