From the resurgence of classic It bags to understated attire, these 7 luxury winter trends are essential to be aware of.
While summer has its charm, winter is my preferred season for fashion. The oversized cozy coats, luxurious leather boots, cashmere, and of course, the festive attire make it exciting! This season brings opportunities, celebrations, and hence, a touch of drama—which I absolutely enjoy in my outfits. Notably, luxury winter trends for 2025 indicate a shift is underway. After years dominated by quiet luxury, Y2K influences, and various ‘something-core’ aesthetics, influenced by TikTok trends, it seems we are entering a fresh era. The September fashion month showcased a remarkable reshuffle in the fashion world, with many new creative directors presenting their visions for their houses. Although this presentation was for spring/summer 2026, it marks the start of something new. While the enduring classic styles from the quiet luxury era remain timeless, several top luxury designers have added fresh twists to traditional wardrobe staples, revamping our winter favorites. For instance, rather than sticking with monochrome and neutral palettes this season, brands like Saint Laurent advocate for vibrant colors and bold colorblocking. Animal prints are resurfacing as well, but this year, it’s not limited to leopard prints, which dominated last year's aesthetic; expect to see zebra, cheetah, snakeskin, and even prints that mimic deer, giraffe, and dalmatian designs—for instance, dalmatian feels like a winter take on last summer's popular polka dot. Similarly, faux fur will play a significant role this winter. Though faux fur is indeed a classic winter staple, this year it will take center stage more than ever—not just in coats from Ferragamo, Fendi, and Gucci, but also in accessories like shawls, scarves, and hats from Miu Miu, Dior, and Prada.
Miu Miu, often seen as fashion's cool younger sibling, is at the forefront of the preppy trend this season. Featuring mini skirts, striped polo shirts, loafers, and grey knitwear, the schoolgirl-meets-librarian style has thrived in recent years. While Miuccia Prada’s autumn/winter 25 collection embraced these references, I have noticed an increasingly mature interpretation in other collections. Drawing from the '50s and '60s, this newer version of preppy styling is noticeably more conservative and less youthful compared to Miu Miu’s playful take. Skirts are now longer, reaching the knee rather than being mini, and we’re opting for low-denier tights instead of knee-high socks.
I cannot discuss luxury trends without mentioning handbags. Each designer boasts its own signature bags, yet many luxury brands are reviving iconic silhouettes from the early 2000s and 2010s. With pieces like the Celine Phantom and Chloe Paddington making a comeback, it's challenging to tell whether it's 2005 or 2025. As the saying goes, trends tend to cycle back. With that in mind, let's explore the seven luxury trends to consider investing in this winter.
### 7 LUXURY WINTER TRENDS TO KNOW NOW
1. **Demure Dressing**
One of my favorite trends this season, which is set to carry over into spring, is the subtle shift towards a more '50s-inspired demure style. It’s an evolution from quiet luxury while maintaining an air of sophistication. Instead of oversized '80s power suits, envision neat collarless blazers, polo necks, and pearls—a style reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy, Princess Anne, or Peggy from Mad Men. Think tailored skirt suits, structured Lady bags, and headscarves paired with sling-back kitten heels. It's undeniably demure and thoughtful.
2. **Winter Brights**
Typically, winter emphasizes rich dark colors, and many of us might think that chic means gravitating towards blacks, greys, with touches of burgundy, olive, and navy. However, Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Dries van Noten challenge this, promoting a bold palette instead. From fuchsia pink to orange and yellow, and an array of purples that would satisfy even Violet Beauregard, it's time for maximalists to rejoice.
3. **New (Old) It Bags**
If you believed that the Y2K revival was limited to Juicy Couture and capri pants, think again. According to the 20-year cycle theory, trends that fall out of favor often make a comeback after two decades. The iconic It bags of the 2000s and 2010s are being reintroduced. Following the re-emergence of the Fendi Baguette and Dior Saddle, there’s now even more. Fans of Phoebe Philo will be excited about the return of the coveted Phantom bag. The Chloe Paddington, once beloved by Sienna Miller and her boho belts, is now also seen on influencers like Dua Lipa and Katie Holmes. If you have a Mulberry Bayswater, a Balenci
