I’m purchasing my cold-weather essentials from Gap, J.Crew, and Banana Republic—here’s what I have in my cart.
Recently, I had a realization while shopping online: Gap, J.Crew, and Banana Republic seem to be the top choices for cold-weather essentials at the moment. Among these three brands, I've discovered some of the best pieces for the season. At Gap, I can depend on them for basic items that I will wear repeatedly, which makes the cost-per-wear quite advantageous. I usually prefer unbranded items, so I appreciate that many of their pieces are simple and subtle. For J.Crew, I always go directly to The Cashmere Shop, their dedicated area for cashmere products. Currently, my favorite sweater is the new rollneck, which at least four other editors on our team also own—likely more. As for Banana Republic, I unexpectedly found my way into their store this year. On my first day at the office, unsure of what to wear (I realized much of my spring wardrobe was quite sheer), I wandered into one of their shops and walked out with a stylish black knee-length boatneck dress. I've been a fan ever since. If you’re a minimalist looking to stay warm as temperatures drop, I’ve compiled what’s currently in my cart from each brand.
