This Australian TikToker has the most amazing style—here are the items she's inspired me to purchase.
Camelia Farhoodi has been one of my favorite TikTok accounts for several years. She resides in Melbourne, and her taste is exceptional. It's elegant and minimalist yet possesses a darker, more artistic edge that seems both authentic and lived-in. She has a relaxed approach to dressing: refined, elevated basics combined with an effortless blend of comfort and sophistication. She frequently dons all black, though it never comes across as dull. Picture Tom Ford sunglasses, a Calvin Klein turtleneck, a Nina Ricci skirt, and a Siricco jacket (as she showcased recently). The details always seem unique and deliberate.
Her aesthetic transcends fashion as well; the same subtle sensibility can be seen in her interior design and beauty selections. Through her visual style, Farhoodi has cultivated a space that feels uniquely hers, which has led to collaborations with brands like Jacquemus, Chanel Beauty, Rhode, Prada, and Mango, along with design partnerships with NA-KD and Lioness. I had a conversation with her about her personal style and the pieces she is currently loving.
I would love to learn more about your background and how you initially became interested in fashion. Do you have any memorable experiences or an overview of your journey? I've always been someone driven by creativity, starting from my childhood memories of borrowing my mother's makeup to organizing fashion shows with my grandmother's clothes. During high school (before I got a job), I’d spend my weekly allowance at my favorite thrift shop, hoping to find various items. I never saw clothing the way it was; I looked for fabrics I adored—like a size 16 lambskin leather top that would instantly become a halterneck and miniskirt with a pair of blunt scissors.
After I started working, I explored various paths to ignite my creativity. I became a self-taught makeup artist for events, weddings, and for friends and family. I also trained at a spa where I learned manicures, pedicures, and waxing. My experience spanned over five years in retail and hospitality, often juggling double shifts between the two. I loved working from the beginning and always committed fully to my tasks, but nothing quite felt right. When I was in my last retail job, COVID struck. Stuck at home with a closet overflowing with unworn clothes I'd rescued from thrift shops, I decided to start taking photos of my outfits. From that moment on, I spent the remainder of COVID snapping pictures, often with help from my boyfriend or little brother.
My partner is a photographer/videographer/director, so we started shooting together for fun during COVID… until we both ended up signing with the same agents! We collaborated throughout the entirety of COVID, with brands sending us ten looks to shoot entire campaigns at home using his equipment. The rest became part of the story!
How would you characterize your personal style? Clean, fresh, and comfortable. A bit sexy and a bit androgynous.
What are the essentials in your capsule wardrobe? I believe everyone looks their best when they’re comfortable and stripped back. That said, I can’t live without my high-quality basics—whether they’re new or vintage. I always choose black silk pants (something that feels cozy yet looks luxe), a classic black tank, a vintage Jil Sander light wool knit, and ballerina flats.
Is there any specific outfit formula you find yourself repeating often? I tend to be a creature of habit, so yes, I do. When I discover something I love, I wear it until I can’t look at it anymore. No strict formula, just items that make me feel both comfortable and confident, which is typically an all-black outfit most of the time. Black suits my natural features and tones seamlessly, so when I'm experiencing premenstrual discomfort, I know I can rely on that. A vintage pair of satin stretch pants, a black tank, a leather coat, oversized sunglasses, and pointed boots never let me down.
What are your favorite sources for discovering new brands? I often find new brands through other content creators on TikTok. There's something about the video format and observing how clothing moves and looks in real-time that's appealing. I enjoy seeing how the TikTok community styles pieces, which always convinces me to explore.
Do you have any style icons? Absolutely. The Olsen twins are among my favorites. Some people claim I could be the third sister! I’m drawn to their effortless and chic vibe. Wool coats with flip-flops, tousled braids that suggest they’ve just woken up yet still look polished—lived-in styles that feel inherently 'you' resonate with me.
Can you share some of your favorite TikTok accounts? I have so many favorites, but if I had to pinpoint a few current top picks, they would be @levi.coralynn (I could watch her videos endlessly—she makes me feel sexy in my own skin), @brown.lexi (her style is incredible
