This Australian TikToker has an amazing sense of style—here are the items she's inspired me to purchase.
Camelia Farhoodi has been one of my favorite follows on TikTok for years. She resides in Melbourne, and her style is flawless. It's chic and minimalist, yet has a darker, more artistic edge that feels authentic and lived-in. Her dressing style comes across as effortless: sleek, elevated basics that blend comfort with sophistication. Although she frequently opts for all black, it never comes across as dull. Imagine Tom Ford sunglasses, a Calvin Klein turtleneck, a Nina Ricci skirt, and a Siricco jacket (as she recently shared). The details always appear unique and deliberate.
Her aesthetic isn't limited to fashion; you'll notice the same understated approach in her interior design and beauty selections. Through her visual style, Farhoodi has built a space that feels uniquely hers, leading to collaborations with Jacquemus, Chanel Beauty, Rhode, Prada, and Mango, as well as design partnerships with NA-KD and Lioness. I had a conversation with her about her personal style and the pieces she currently adores.
I’d love to learn more about your background and what initially sparked your interest in fashion. Do you have any impactful memories related to it or a summary of your journey? I’ve always been creatively inclined, from my earliest memories of borrowing my mom's makeup to putting on family fashion shows using my grandma's clothes. During high school, before I got a job, I used to spend my allowance weekly at my favorite thrift store, hoping to find as many unique pieces as possible. I never viewed the garments as they were; I was on the lookout for fabrics I adored and looked for things I could rework—a size 16 top in lambskin leather turned into a halterneck or miniskirt with just a pair of blunt scissors.
Once I started working, I explored various avenues in search of my creative spark. I worked as a self-taught makeup artist for events, weddings, family, and friends. I also trained at a spa where I learned to do manicures, pedicures, waxing, etc. I was involved in retail and hospitality for over five years, juggling double shifts between the two. I loved working from the start and put my heart into everything I did, but nothing felt right.
During my time in retail (which was my last job), COVID hit. Stuck at home with a closet full of unworn clothes salvaged from the thrift store, I decided to start photographing my outfits. From that moment on, I spent the rest of my time during COVID taking pictures with my boyfriend or little brother's help. My partner is a photographer/videographer/director, so we shot together during COVID just for fun… until we both got signed by the same agents! We worked together throughout COVID. Brands would send us 10 looks, and we would shoot entire campaigns at home with his equipment. The rest is history!
How would you characterize your personal style? Clean, fresh, and comfortable. A touch sexy and a bit androgynous.
What are the essentials in your capsule wardrobe? I believe everyone looks their best when they are stripped back and comfortable. That being said, I can't live without my high-quality basics—new or vintage. I always choose black silk pants (something that feels comfy but looks luxurious), a classic black tank, a vintage Jil Sander light wool knit, and ballerina flats.
Is there a particular outfit formula you find yourself repeating frequently? I'm a creature of habit, so unfortunately, yes. When I discover something I like, I wear it until I can’t stand the sight of it anymore. There’s no set formula, but I lean towards pieces that make me feel comfortable and confident, which is usually an all-black ensemble 90% of the time. Black complements my natural features and tones perfectly, so when I’m feeling bloated or unattractive, I know I can rely on that. A vintage pair of satin stretch pants, a black tank, a leather coat, oversized sunglasses, and pointed boots never let me down.
Where do you find inspiration for new brands? I usually come across new brands through other content creators on TikTok—there’s something about the video format that captures how clothing moves and looks in real life. I also love seeing how the TikTok community styles pieces; it usually convinces me to try them.
Do you have any style icons? Absolutely. I'm a huge fan of the Olsen twins. Some people even say I’m the missing third sister! I’m drawn to their casual yet chic vibe—wool coats with flip-flops, loose braids, that effortlessly chic look that feels like they just woke up but still look good. I love lived-in styles that feel authentic to the individual.
Can you share some of your favorite TikTok accounts? I have countless favorites, but if I had to select a few current ones, they would be @levi.coralynn (I could watch her videos
