We Tested the Trending Winter Coat That Every New Yorker Has—Here's Why It Deserves the Buzz.
If you spend any time online, you've likely come across the East Coast saying that circulates from November to March: "Are you even from New York? Do you own a big, black puffer jacket?" We may have puffer jackets, and although they aren't all necessarily big and black, they are definitely superior. I’m referring to the Aritzia Super Puff, the go-to winter jacket for New York girls and a favorite on the internet. Originally designed in Vancouver to withstand harsh wind chills and frigid temperatures, the New York crowd has fully embraced the viral Aritzia Super Puff. It's adored by influencers, college students, and commuters, becoming a symbol of both warmth and style. This jacket isn't just an article of clothing; it has become a social statement. Spot one on the subway, and you can almost guess its owner’s coffee order. Its glossy finish and cocoon-like shape have redefined winter chic, balancing functionality with that effortless cool vibe that Aritzia captures so well. However, with countless options available and a growing influx of knockoffs flooding social media, you might wonder: Does the Aritzia Super Puff truly live up to its reputation? Six of our editors, representing various heights and sizes, took it for a test drive through the biting winds of downtown Manhattan and the bustling errands of the weekend to see if this cult favorite still reigns supreme. Below, read our editors' reviews of the Aritzia Super Puff.

**Nikki's review:** I’ve never liked puffer jackets because I’ve never found one that felt stylish. Each winter, my friends rave about their Aritzia puffer jackets and how indispensable they are, particularly during the coldest months in NYC. I usually let their comments fade away, convinced that I'll stick to my elegant long wool coats. However, a month ago, I heard this winter in NYC could be particularly brutal, which made me anxious and drove me to urgently search for the warmest, stylish winter jackets. Before long, I found myself on the Aritzia Super Puff landing page, exploring various styles and ultimately falling for The Super Après Puff. This jacket, being the shortest version, won't keep my lower half warm, but it definitely covers my upper body where it counts and looks polished for someone who cares a bit too much about appearance. The mock neck collar creates a chic funnel-neck look when fully buttoned, and the matte fabric gives it a sleek aesthetic. I also appreciate the fleece-lined pockets, which keep my hands warm when I forget my gloves, and the attached cuffs with thumbholes that offer added warmth. It's not officially winter in New York yet, but I've already worn this jacket on some chilly 40-degree mornings, and it's truly saved me from the cold. I can confidently say this jacket is going to be my new best friend.

**Ana's review:** I might be a bit biased, but as someone from Florida, I consider my Aritzia Super Puff one of the best winter items I own. I bought the Aritzia Super Puff Long jacket a few years ago, and after moving to New York and wearing it nearly every day in winter, it has endured quite a bit of wear (and several holes and stains, since it’s a lighter color). Therefore, I was eager to try the Aritzia Super Puff Mid. Being on the taller side, I needed a jacket that would cover me a bit beyond my hips without making me feel like I was wrapped in a marshmallow-filled blanket, something the extra-padded Super Puff Long already does. I ventured to SoHo to try on the Mid style to ensure I got the length just right, and it landed perfectly at the middle of my thighs. Plus, like all Aritzia Super Puffs, I can wear it easily with just a white t-shirt and jeans—the down filling keeps me adequately warm without needing too many layers. If you have an apple-shaped body or a fuller chest like I do, you might find it beneficial to size up. I took the Aritzia Super Puff Mid in my true size (around a size 16/18) but found it slightly restrictive around my midsection. Most classic Super Puff styles, including the Mid, go up to a size 2XL, making them plus-size friendly!

**Aniyah's review:** After moving from Florida to NYC four years ago, I can’t believe I spent so long without a Super Puff. Everyone praises its warmth and durability. My fellow editor Natalie Gray Herder
